Law of detachment. This is along the lines of accepting we don't know everything and thats the beginning of learning.

Law of Detachment

The Law of Detachment is a fundamental tenet of Buddhism which has found it's way into the New Age Movement, where it's taught by people like Deepak Chopra, the famous New Age Guru.

(Chopra also teaches things like "God is not an external deity but the inner intelligence within you." That is literal blasphemy to the Biblical Christian.)

Christians ARE to have peace in all circumstance, and not be overcome by anxiety, fear and worry... but we're to achieve that in a particular way, in which we learn to trust in God's sovereign will.

I would recommend we DO seek peace in all circumstances, and freedom from worry... but I wouldn't recommend getting there through the Law of Detachment. I would recommend we get there through learning to trust in God.

God Bless,
Have a great week.

On the other hand, when considering what would Jesus do, breaking out the whips and trashing the place is not off the table. :)

I'm not trying to uplift budhism. I didn't realize it was budhism. Having to detach emotionally is something I've always done and its always helped me get through situations. Sometimes I have to do stuff regardless of how I feel, but I would never recommend someone over riding their conscience!

I understand that.
I think I would just try to stick closer to Biblical terms, so there isn't confusion.
The Bible talks about doing what we have to do, regardless of how we feel.
Those things are in the Bible.
It just puts those things into different terms, and views them differently.

So the Bible gives us lots of principles on these kinds of issues: dealing with hardship, overcoming fear and anxiety, overcoming stress, overcoming our emotions with careful and clear thinking, and even transcending some of our problems by seeing them from a different perspective...
it just doesn't talk in terms of detaching ourselves from everything.

It's an interesting topic.
Good thing to give some thought.
