I starting to realize that I have changed significantly over the last few years. I’m much nicer now than I was before. I can even hold my tongue these days and not be itching for a grim comeback when someone is saying something I don’t approve of.

Have any of you other golden oldies experienced this?
no. i never have given grim or "wise guy" remarks. only when joking with friends.

Actually....
With the advent of AI generated comments....those snarky remarks are the only way to know if you are speaking with a real person or not.

Because estimates are that 60%-80% of all posts on social media networks are made by AI or some other media generative software.

Those battles on the internet are now being fought by servers in a farm without anyone hands on doing it.

You can even set up 3 AI to have a battle of wits with the third AI acting as a judge between the other two.

That's how bad it is anymore.

It's really that bad. At least half to ¾ of all political speech on the internet is AI (or generative software) generated.

This forum doesn't see a lot of that because of the nature of the forum....but what has been termed "useful idiots" bring in this information and repeat it.

But chances are if you are having a politically engaged conversation with someone on Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, and etc and the other person is being polite instead of snarky....it's an AI.

All those "friend requests" or followers whom you don't know are usually "bots" of some form looking to track you and keep your posts focused in ways you can't even imagine.

Let me explain it this way.

A year's worth of sermons by a good persuasive pastor does not equal 20 minutes with your friends as far as influencing your behavior and thinking. Now if these "friends" are people you think you know on-line....
And these people are really AIs used to influence your opinions and perceptions....they control the questions you ponder even though you believe you generated the questions yourself.

That's the insidious nature of predictive algorithms.

Can you prove you're not an AI? You spout a lot of information but not much snark. You have definite agendas, multiple. You could be an AI.

I’m no longer sure whether I’m AI or not. I fit the bill quite nicely. I’m nice, polite, repetitive, not snarky, conflict sensitive and a variety of other pleasant qualities.

In a bit I will have turned everyone’s minds around for my own good, I mean my operator’s good…cough cough.

I have observed some nice people turn into old crabs when they get old. Other nice people don't change at all.

Combined with observations on the effect of age on energy levels, I have reached a conclusion.

Some nice people are not really nice. They are putting on an act. But the older you get, the harder it is to keep up the act. So as they age, we find out what they are really like, and how much they have been acting all these years.

(This has nothing to do with your topic directly, Suz, but it connects further on down the tracks.)

As for GETTING NICER as you age, I think that mostly comes from learning what to not stress about, and how much a lot of things don't really matter.
Aww, that's interesting!💟
