A Soldier for Him

I am a soldier,
And nothing I lack.
I don the armor,
Prepare for attack.
I wage the battle,
And with Him I'll win.
For I am a soldier,
A soldier for Him.

The warfare still rages,
And wounds multiply.
He soothes each one;
My constant supply.
And as the day closes,
With a continuing rattle,
I bow my head in prayer,
And persist in the battle.

My weapons, once shiny,
Are no longer new.
Dented and marked,
Yet they will still do.
For my weapons of war,
Are timeless and true.
They're imbued with power
Whose source is You.

I long for a time
When all will be rest;
A time of great beauty,
A time richly blessed.
Until such time,
I am all in.
For I am a soldier,
A soldier for Him.
