Hello Everybody!!! I am a new Christian saved only 3 month ago. In my 50's .I consider myself Baptist , though I do not have a church yet. I have Been reading the Puritan and some books on reformed theology. I'm not sure that I subscribe to Calvinism mainly because i dont quite understand pre-destination and pre-election seems kind of unfair. But , that being said there is much to glean about God and His attributes from the Puritans. Remember I'm new so my beliefs may change. I'm here because i need interaction with other believers . I have 0 Christian friends and it is difficult for me to get out and about right now. Thank you for stopping by and I hope to talk to some or all of you soon

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible.
This movie is a word-for-Word portrayal of John's gospel.

Also, please check out the Alpha Course.




There are 10 videos total. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly .:)

I'm glad that you found us and joined in the discussions with us :)

As for the more controversial parts of Christianity, like the systematic theologies Arminianism & Calvinism can often be, I think that it's far better for you to stay focused on growing in the knowledge and understanding of God and His word (the Bible) instead, at least for the foreseeable future anyway (because, among a number of other things, it's very hard to understand what/why the systematic theologies teach what they do if you don't understand what the Bible teaches us about soteriology first).

Finally, here's a 4-part teaching series called Spiritual Boot Camp that was made for new believers like you. It takes a close look at four of our most important Christian spiritual disciplines, 1) How to Study the Bible 2) How to Pray 3) How to Function in the Body (Fellowship) and 4) How to Witness, and it will give you practical advice about how to incorporate all four of them into your life, as well :)(y)(y)

All four are free to listen to and/or read online here. Just scroll down when you get to the website and click on whichever one that you'd like to listen to first. Just FYI, I went through this teaching series myself, about 35 years ago, or so, and there are things that I learned from the Spiritual Boot Camp teaching series that I still use in my Chrisitan walk today :)

p.s. - I would HIGHLY recommend finding a church to attend ASAP, especially since you are a new believer. You need to be in fellowship with other believers, and under the teaching and authority of the visivle church as well, ~especially~ at this point in your walk with Him (as both "the world" and our common enemy, Satan, would love to have you back :oops:).

Glad to hear that you recently got saved!
I'd like to hear more about that, like was it a soul winner at your door who led you to Christ or at a revival?.
The Independent Baptist Churches used to be known for those. I was saved after a Baptist soul winner knocked on my door and shared the gospel with me, not right then, but reconsidered and Later that night I decided to get saved at my bedside. I gave up trusting my own good works and put my faith in Jesus Christ >Instead<.

There's a lot of good teaching/ preaching on that channel too.

To be honest there were several factors involved . End of april I had come to the end of myself.
Though I've been struggling a lot the last 8 years I kept trudging through. End of april I was
thoroughly broken. I grew up in the Baptist church until age 12, so I did have exposure to the Gospel but never accepted it.
42 years later through a lot of brokeness here i am.
No one winessed to me , I had prior knowledge and finally surrendered.

I know how it is to have no christian friends. I have now some but in long distant. but to talk to other christian is healthy and important. This forum is one way for me to connect with other believers. and I hope you will find friends to talk with

That is good to hear! Many churches host the Alpha Course around this time of year (perhaps closer
to September) over a community dinner and discussions after the video where any and all questions
are answered. I came to belief at such a one, realizing during the course that I no longer needed more
convincing of the Truth of God's revealed written Word. It was such a relief after all my years of running
to know that my opposition to Him was finally and forever laid down! That was twenty years ago...
