if you mean an intermediary like a priest, no. we have a Great High Priest in the Lord Jesus. He is our mediator.

but dear child, you may also want to ask Him for the help He promised to resist temptation. ♥

The Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church usually prioritize confession to the priest.
Being raised in the Orthodox Church and seeing other members of the church now who are mature in their faith, they don't confess to any priest but to the one who they consider their spiritual father.
For example i would only confess to my spiritual father who is a monk and taught me the faith, but i'm not going to go at a random place to confess.
I say that to God loudly and directly during my prayers daily. I don't say it in my mind either. No, i sit in a place quietly alone and i speak to God.
Confession becomes sort of a non-subject when you're in prayer daily with God and you thank Him for His blessings, ask for forgiveness, ask for guidance, ask for mercy etc etc.
So you're in communication with God all day basically and you don't need to set a special day to confess.

But if there is a time where you must do that with a priest, i would recommend doing it with someone you know and who knows you.
In my church this is called a "spiritual father". Someone who knows you, who has baptized you, who knows you and your family basically.

The only one who can forgive our sins is God so that is the only one we need to go to. The only exception I can think of is: if our sin is against someone else. If my sin hurts someone else, I believe I should go to the one I hurt and ask forgiveness too but I think that is why God gave us a conscience. :) My conscience requires me to seek out those who I have hurt.

If we go to Jesus, tell him we regret he will forgive us the sin. I know even when I regret and try not to fall in to same sin some times I do anyway. from start I felt very much gilt to come a second time to ask Jesus to forgive. But I have learn he still forgive as long we are wiling to change. If we just ask and in same time know we are about to do same thing then is an other thing, then I don't think we really is asking Jesus to forgive. But if we want to change then we have forgiveness. I know sometimes it is a struggle It has been and still is for me. I some time fall back in to sin even I know it is wrong. I try doing my best to change

i did think of that, but am uncertain if it's appropriate in context.

Sin is a lifestyle choice and not a momentary decision.
Obviously people prefer their choices....that's why they do them.

The sin is not in a rash act itself but in the allowing of those situations to be so important to you.

The gospel of Luke has a series of 4 types of sins laid out in a progressive sequence.
Lost sheep
Lost coin
Prodigal son
Angry son

Each of these are sins and its the attitudes that caused each of them.
Sins of ignorance
Sins of negligence
Planned sins
Sins of unforgiving/prejudice

Each of these types/classes of sins has ultimately a result of things people usually are remorseful about and wish they could change....be someone different because they can't find their way back.

For the record....I ALWAYS committed the fun sins...I enjoyed every last one of them. However, at the end of the day the price for living that way was so much higher than I ever wanted to pay.

And sometimes a wise friend can help us find our way back to sanity. :)

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
