Looked into this lovely, very active forum, a few times before joining and am now ready to join in. I am an old dear who thankfully, quite enjoys being old, you don't become a different person when you're in your 60s. Posting the About You segment from my profile, it offers some useful info about me:

"i'm an old dear who is new to belief in God, still feeling the joy and wonder of the realisation and trying to make up for so many wasted years. Strict Calvinists introduced me to the knowledge but what i have learned along the way, suggests that's too strict a path for me. Currently searching for the right place of worship and spiritual community for me, want to be baptised quickly when i have done so.

Charles Spurgeon's sermons and Pastor Mike Winger's videos/mp3s, appeal very much to me, as do publications by some Puritans. Keep in mind many Puritans consider Charles Spurgeon to have been one, what i've learned suggests they are very different to populist thinking."

Obviously advice from seasoned believers is truly welcome, have made several big changes in my life, such as ditching a lot of music, films, books etc. Currently applying the *If the Lord popped in for a coffee, how much stuff would i be kicking under the couch covers?* criteria. However, there's still some stuff i consider iffy but find it hard to let go of, such as Martial Arts/Wuxia films and a few other films like The Amazing Mr Blunden (1972) and Legend (1985) Would really appreciate advice from seasoned believers.

A pretty long intro from me, hope I've said a couple of things which might attract some replies, blessings to all for now.

Cheers and blessings TabinRivCA, my first reply and it's a lovely one. Ditto about techno/dance music, heavy rock etc, ditched a lot but know i'll have to get tougher with myself, don't think the Lord accepts lukewarm. Think/hope it'll get easier to trash what i should soon.

This really does seem a lovely site with many really informed members and i have many questions, only been on this beautiful path about 5 months so much to learn. Hugs and blessings for your lovely welcome, will get some kip soon.

Welcome, LifelongLearner!
Cheers for the welcome Tall_Timbers, seen you around on CC pretty often. Decided to take the plunge and join so happy i have.

Yesterday probably wasn't the best day to join but i felt the urge to, so went with it. My daughter was over for the evening but quickly looked in to see if there were any replies. Time for me to start browsing for posts which might be helpful to me as a new Christian, God's blessings Tall_Timbers, see you soon i hope.

i'm an old dear who is new to belief in Go
Welcome to the family! I often recommend this movie to new/er converts:

^ Gospel of John is often recommended as a great place to start reading the Bible. This movie is a word-for-
Word portrayal of John's gospel, is very well done, and one I watched multiple times in my early days.

Also, please check online to see if a church near you is hosting the Alpha Course, a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question around faith, and the talks are designed to create conversation in small groups afterwards. It's totally free, it's run all over the globe, and everyone's welcome.

The Alpha Course is amazing, full of facts, history, information, etc about our faith, interviews, with both popular
and famous apologists and the common person on the street, asking them such questions as, Who do you think
Jesus is? Very informative all round! I was going through the course myself twenty years ago when I realized I had
finally reached that place of needing no more convincing of the Truth of God's revealed written Word. What a relief!

There are 10 videos total. I hope you watch them. They could benefit you greatly .:)

"Thank you for the response. There are those who appear afraid of accepting and /or seeing the truth.
Being carried along by the guidance of the Holy Spirit, some may not grasp the significance of sharing
with a spiritual heart. Worldliness shall always hinder spiritual reality.
