Why not both? Isn't that what the ancient Israelites tried? Instead of worshiping God or Molech they decided to go for both.

Not sure what is really best, but there is definitely an argument to be made against "both."
With you there's an argument to be made against everything.

Halloween is about remembering the saints of God. It's even in the name. Sorry to break the news to you, but Halloween was made by the Christians to wipe out the pagans' religion and culture and mock them and glorify the saints of Jesus that largely wiped out the pagans and their culture and religions. Now if someone does something pagan on the holiday that doesn't make the holiday itself pagan, that just makes that person a pagan. Why surrender the glory that belongs to Jesus and his holy army of angels and saints to you know, their enemies?
God has said quite clearly in prophecy to stay away from Halloween. Test this with Him for yourself or don't - It's up to you to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

It is telling that you see yourself as weighing in on conversations and dispensing your wisdom to those who are ignorant.

It must be such a terrible burden to be the only enlightened person in your area. How kind, generous and incredibly spiritual of you to so bountifully share your great knowledge with the lesser beings around you. I'm certain all the little people appreciate you so much.

There's no test, Halloween is about the saints of God and was created by the Christians. You know what's funny is if it you can find me such prophecy in the Bible, though I know you really can't unless you really stretching it, that would make the writer a saint and therefore worthy of being remembered on Halloween, and so if you remember them, technically you're celebrating Halloween.

Can you show me a link to that prophecy? Or quote me the scripture/verse... that will be good enough.

What I really want to know is, why do the little beggars demand that we smell their feet?

That makes perfect sense. My 2yo granddaughter would pull every trick she could think of to get her fingers on an extra one of these...

The Bible speaks of both testing things (1 John 4:1, Romans 12:2, 1 Thess. 5:21, etc.), and the gift of prophecy (1 Corinthians 12-14, etc.). So for you to deny these things exist is to deny Scripture.

If you don't know what it means to test biblically, or you don't believe the gifts of the Spirit are current, then how about being intellectually honest and acknowledge where you are at instead of disrespectfully playing dumb about what others mean.

And if you aren't playing dumb, then you really need to recognize how little you know and try asking questions instead of making categorical statements on issues you don't really understand (ex. "There's no test...").

I must say, that someone who like yourself comes off as trying to be compassionate and understanding, is one of the only individuals that I have seen so far that is so I guess verbally abusive while masking it under the guys of correction in some sort of way. If you want to take it offensive or if you want to say that I'm so enlightened, which I'm not, then go ahead I really don't care. But my conversation with you back and forth is now come to an end. Because I'm not going to entertain someone who only seeks to put someone down when a logical answer has been put forth. If I promote Jesus, and stand up for the concept of promoting him and the light of the darkened world around us and you're against that and what does that say about you. Have a good day Lynx

You give me way too much credit dude. I'm not trying to come off as anything. Just about every post I make on this forum is a shot from the hip.

And yes I am definitely against deliberately antagonizing people in Jesus' name just to feed your self-righteous ego. You may claim you are doing the Lord's work, but all it does is make you feel good about how holy you are while you drive away people who would otherwise perhaps become good Christian someday.

It's not good that you don't recognize the opportunity to share the gospel. Paul saw opportunity everywhere and made the most of it:

Acts 17:23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.

And then he went on from that to preach to the people of Athens.

So handing out tracts about the Lord and the Gospel with the treats to children who might not otherwise get to know God is actually a great way to spread the gospel. Especially to children who's parents don't bring them to church.

I'm waiting for the prophecy from the Bible about Halloween being pagan and to not be celebrated. You can't find it because it's not there. Therefore is then there no testing from me of God as you charged since I know the origin of Halloween and that it is not from the pagans but from the Christians, even the particular saint, the noble officially beatified, but bibllically full saint Charlemagne. In fact Saint Charlemagne and the Christians pretty literally became saints because they wiped out the pagans, and for a Lynx bonus point he also cut down both the most literal tree worshippers as well as the trees they worshipped too and moved the date of All Saints Day in the West to November 1st and thereby the day before it, the e'en, effiectively became Halloween to celebrate the saints of Jesus.

That is sound logic.

I saw the same kind of logic in a play called much ado about nothing. One character proved he was not a knave, and the people to whom he was speaking were not fools, because
he told them to swear by their beards that he was a knave, and by his knavery he swore they were fools, but they had no beards by which to swear.

It was a Shakespeare thing. It had to be confusing to be on brand.

I do admit to some trepidation though, noticing that other people are now handing out my bonus points... Those are proprietary coded points, not open source points. I even have them patented instead of Creative Commons licensed.

I understand that you feel that my direct approach is perhaps abrasive, however, I have seen that most men and women can accept as well as appreciate my directness. as I do it in love. Have a good night bro, chat more tomorrow perhaps.
