The Westminster shorter catechism starts if with this short Q & A, what do you is mean't? And do they get this from scripture?
Q1. What is the chief end of man?
A. Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him for ever.
Some say that the primary responsibility is to bring glory to God through one's life by using the talents and gifts God has given. Others say that enjoying God to the fullest in all actions is the way to glorify God to the fullest.
1 Chronicles 16:24
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
1 Chronicles 29:11
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.
1 Corinthians 6:20
