I do not recall ever reading or hearing that statement in the past. Thinking about it, maybe there is truth in it. I just read a long article on CNN about a teenage son who is gay, living in a conservative Christian family. While I do not agree with same-sex marriage and some of the more 'far out' moves of the more liberal mainline churches, the article is quite interesting. The gay teenage son is who told his counselor the words of the title of this post. If anyone is dealing with the gay situation within the family or church, it is a well-worth read:

How did the church go from the KJV to the NET Bible on this question?

"Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind," (1Cor 6:9 KJV)

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals," (1Cor 6:9 NET2.1)

If you think those two translations are stating the same thing, you need to use the 1828 Webster's English dictionary to understand the wording found in the KJV, RV and ASV. Check "abuser" and "ravisher" from 1 Cor. 6:9 as well as "defile" from 1 Tim. 1:10. Translations from the NCC as well as the conservative translations have left the historic, traditional understanding. Did the church have to wait until the 20th century to know what those words meant? I do not think so.

I have encountered this topic when discussing with atheists and it's important to recognize that some Christians are no better than anybody else. They have faults and have to deal with their own struggles but i emphasize to the atheist to not confuse the actions of men with God or Jesus Christ.

erm, i think it's better we go to a Greek lexicon to understand the accuracy of a pagan language translation, not to a pagan language dictionary.

The world lacks knowledge and doesn't understand the difference between nice and kind.

If a friend is nice he'll say, "go out and enjoy a few drinks. "

If a friend is kind he'll say "I think you may have a drinking problem. Is there something I can do to help you. "

One is a real friend and one is a fake. If you deeply love someone and no one loves more than their child, you're going to do and say what you feel is the truth and the best for them. You may go about it in the wrong way, but that's only because of missing a skill and understanding about it. It doesn't mean their heart isn't in the right place.

Strong's, 1890:
μαλακοὶ (malakoi): effeminate
ἀρσενοκοῖται (arsenokoitai): homosexual

Homosexuality was normal in Greek society. God calls it an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22). Any kind of sexual immorality is condemned by God. (All of Leviticus 18). It won't send the saved offender to hell, but an immoral lifestyle will keep them out of God's kingdom. Sexual sin is a blight on the church. It's brought too many pastors down, brings great reproach on the body of Christ and destroys families.

Excessive focus on homosexuality tends to obscure other sex sins. This is most unhelpful. Jesus came to set captives free. However, those who reject God's judgement on sin will not seek the deliverance that they need.

Homosexuality is sin. So is lying, stealing, murder, adultery etc. There is no need to exaggerate one over another.

Homosexuality is a consequence of rebellion against God (Romans 1:26. It helps to read the verses around that one). It's hardly surprising that the homosexual community seeks to excuse itself and deny that its sin condemned by God. Jesus came to set captives free, not to excuse their sinful ways.

I've not seen a workable solution here. Yet, I do not see where any 'solution' or healing, etc., is needed. The evangelicals used to IN THE PAST legitimately laugh at and scorn the nutty neo-Pentecostalists, but then pick up their same claim of healing, protection from 'sin' and so forth. Frankly, the young man who is a true Christian, and also gay is between a rock and a hard place. The crazy fundamentalists on one side, the apostate modernists on the other side. Solution? Stay out of all of them and go read out of men of God out of the past. I'm watching to see whether this election is going to be another indication of just how strong a judgment of God the US is under now. If Harris wins, America should be so proud, the first woman, the first black and the first Asian to win White House. If that happens, I will know for sure, America is done for and we should better look for a rough ride coming soon.

So are true Christians who are tempted to be adulterers, murders, thieves, liars, etc. Solution? First and foremost, acknowledge the sin. Without that there will never be healing

btw, the young man doesn't sound like a true Christian. He sounds like someone who was raised by Christian parents who were more concerned about image than righteousness and his rebellion is a reaction to their shackles. That article is just an attempt to normalize homosexuality using the failings of carnal Christian parents to do so

I agree with B, G & C, but I will consider that in some cases sin can be caused by the demon of mental illness--in which case the solution is still a cure rather than advocating and legalizing the misbehavior as an alternative lifestyle.

He who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit. Flee from sexual immorality.
