Moika! This is breathtaking! I love Finland and how you can instantly recognise Finnish nature by the distinct types of trees and those beautiful, huge flat rocks on shores and sometimes in forests.
Moi! Welcome to the Forum!
I think Switzerland is one to have the most beautiful breathtaking views with all the mountains and valleys.

Yes, hiking is the best! Now my plan is to visit more National parks and other nature paths, but those would be better when there is no ice. Had to be careful with every step because of the ice.

Haha, I quess it is important to read the signs, but glad you found the bird in question. Btw, what was your bird?
In the National park there also were signs but those only were for the landscape and history ... I think, as I didn't read 'em all  Who knows if there also were a wildlife signs of birds too..
But, I recorded that bird sound, so I sent it to my aunt who is a "birdnerd", I would say. Although she had never heard it, she sent it to bidlife where they usually answer within a week. So I have my hopes up!
I've been on a lot of trails without signs. Even the trails with signs, I don't blame you for not reading them. I don't always want to stop my hike. I'm glad I did on that particular trail though.
My bird ended up being a yellow billed cuckoo. Last year a pair of them were staying in my yard!

I hope they are able to identify your bird and you find out soon! It's interesting how exciting birding can be!

Thank you for the welcome! :) (my Finnish pretty much ends at tervetuloa and koira and other random words sadly) Oddly I love how flat Finland seems to be in contrast to Switzerland, the fact that you can see so far, the many lakes :) It really is beautiful here as well though, sometimes it makes me cry thinking how much our Lord must love us to make this beautiful world for us.

Long Beach, CA. Only a 50 minute train ride to Hollywood! And about 25 minutes away from Huntington Beach, where they do the surf competitions every summer.

The Drone Jedi in Oklahoma took this pic recently while it was foggy at Kelly Lane Park in Sapulpa. I love the atmosphere. It's too smashing to not share...

It's very very very hot! Still in the 90s in November. I love Texas as this is my home, but sheesh! I am getting fed up with this weather. The plants and trees are blooming. There are tons of butterflies and birds all over the garden. Ya'll know I am insectaphobic. This ain't fun for me!
I've been enjoying the birds though! The other day I saw a Green Jay and some Red Crowned Parrots. I'll have to take pics of these for ya'll to see. The area I live in is a good birding place because a lot of birds migrate here for the Winter. We also get birds from Mexico. I love the Chachalacas! They make funny noises and look goofy.

Do you have seasons in Texas? Is winter different from summer? Here in Switzerland the winters are so long, the days are short and I really feel it affecting me mentally, so what you just described sounds absolutely amazing to me! I have a bird feeder in my garden and love watching them too, I assume yours find enough food all year round and don't need feeding? :)

If you ever plan to come to Texas, I would love to meet you! I am in South Texas right now but I have family in North Texas. I will try to get some pictures next time I see these birds for sure!

It's usually just really hot haha. During the summer, it will hit over 100 degrees. It can get dangerous to be outside. People need an AC now or else they can die of heatstroke. We have had a few people pass away during the summers. It just keeps getting hotter and hotter with each year. And the winers are hotter too. I mean it's 90 and it's already mid November. It just makes me kinda sad to be honest. I really enjoy the cold weather. But to me cold means 50s-30s. It's rare for me to experience below that. I have when it snows though. Sometimes I go to Dallas for Christmas and it's so nice up there!

Since it doesn't get too cold here in South Texas, we have a lot of birds especially right now. That can be pretty cool! It's nice to see them be so active and yes they seem to have food all year. But mom and I do feed them and give them water. That's another thing...we try to make sure all bird baths have water and we have a large bowl of water in the front yard for stray animals to drink from. We enjoy seeing them get water through the Ring camera! During the Summer, we had a lot of stray cats and a couple of dogs stop by for a drink.

I struggle with mental health; mostly anxiety. I dream of living somewhere like Washington state or Alaska where it's usually cold and dark. But I hadn't thought about how that environment might affect me. Maybe it's good I am in Texas! Is it common for people in Switzerland to struggle mentally because of lack of sunlight?

@Noel25 sorry when I read your reply I was half asleep 😴 so I just ticked it and slept back. That's very kind of you LM we will,by God's grace 🙏 but not too soon you know we need to save more for the trip and a lot other things we need to do. My Aunt is waiting for us already also 😅 I love small birds I saw a friendly small bird in front of a friend's yard. We were invited for lunch at their house. The bird was comfortably looking for food on the ground. 😅

I love birding! I'm amazed at the variety of birds I see right from my yard. Looking forward to seeing your bird pics when/if you are able. I hadn't heard of Chachalacas until now. So I went to yt to watch a video of them. Smashing!! I love birds :giggle:

One of my favorite Okie wildlife photographers, Stephen Ofsthun, always takes beautiful pictures of our lovely state.

The lizard is an eastern collard lizard and the birds are American avocets.

What a beautiful lizard!
I love Collard lizards but never kept one. I only saw one that pretty in my state one time. I think it was an exceptionally colorful fence lizard because I think Collards are outside our range. I was on Cooper's Rock and it was perched on a boulder behind me.

Used to be on a two person Balloon Festival committee. Our state had dozens of Balloons like those go up every year. One even got stuck on a tree in my yard. 😄

I love seeing lizards. When I've been in Georgia, I've gotten to see and hold anoles. If they get upset, the let out their dewlap, which is neat! (I mean, not neat that they are upset, but the dewlap is neat!)

I've always wanted to fly in a hot air balloon. Before my mother passed away, we went out of town to a festival. Unfortunately, a storm came up and the festival was cancel. We never did get to ride a hot air balloon.
One stuck in your tree? That sounds like comical!

Here you'd see a big, hungry raccoon.
Hopefully they aren’t fighting each other this time. Just give them one of your corn bread with green peppers. Or maybe they don’t like green peppers too?
