That's an interesting thought. Why do you believe that God needs to "maintain balance"
Just a guess, I'm still trying to figure this guy out. What would do you think the meaning of life is? I believe the meaning of life is playing a part in god's big orchestra? You never think that we are here for his entertainment purposes?

Maybe he wants to appear benevolent?
Again though, why would he want or need to do that (considering the particular Person we are talking about here, what advantage could there possibly be for Him to do so)

Saying that, aren't there parts of the bible that are not so nice?
There are. The Bible doesn't try to hide what God does from us (even the things that would make Him look better in our eyes if it did), nor does it do so with what people are truly like, even the people who are typically held up to us by the Bible as heroes (so to speak) of the faith.

In your own words, so what do you think it means to be a Christian?
Abiding by too many strict rules. When everything is calculated you realize that once you get beyond the air you breath, you begin to sin.

Did you ever here of the sin "Don't pickup sticks on Sunday"?

What might be some reasons for such a regulation?

I agree, figuratively speaking, I feel that I have to share the road with a bunch of morons.
Most of us feel that way at one point or other.

The more observant get over ourselves and realize we are not as smart as we thought we were, and a lot of people around us were smarter than we thought they were.

If you still feel you are sharing the road with a bunch of morons, you have a lot of growing to do. Unfortunately there is no guarantee you will do that growing. Some people never make it there mentally.

I learned a long time ago, don't allow anyone to put words in my mouth. So here I go. I'm not answering that question.
I'm not trying to put words in your mouth. I'm trying to find common ground and identify your basis for truth. How do you establish what is true and what is false?

You don't know the morons I had to share the road with. I must admit, they made me much wiser.
Every single person I have ever known who felt like that, they all spend their time deciding what everybody around them should do, driving themselves nuts trying to get everybody to do it, and getting very frustrated when the people around them do not follow their advice.

The "everybody around me is a moron" people I know also spend a lot of time complaining about everybody around them. All it winds up accomplishing is increasing stress and blood pressure all around.
