Sorry, but I don't see how this sport can be done to the glory of God. Why would you hit someone in the fact for the sake of pleasure? I ain't talkin bout self defense, but just brainless hitting. I don't think a Christian should partake in this since God called us to be peacemakers. Once again, not talking about defending others, but there is no reason to do boxing. It is just plan fleshly. Here a good video on this matter:

Your premise starts off with a few false ideas.
Fighters (boxers and mma) are athletes that train their minds and bodies. They study opponents other fighters to understand that fighters strengths and weaknesses. And, if need be, adapt their training as needed. I believe this can be more obvious in mma.
This means their hitting isn't mindless. Good fighters look for openings, know when to block or back off. And in mma it's even trickier as there are more options to watch out for, punches, kicks, taken to the ground, holds, etc...

And you can see the evidence of this special training when they go against people who are untrained. And the reason this usually happens is because they are challenged by cocky people who think what they do is a joke. Or in real life situations.
Whatever the reason I've yet to see a well trained fighter taken down by untrained fighters. In fact the fighters usually take it easy on the challenger and don't give 100% and still beat them effortlessly. So it's not mindless hitting.

The goal isn't about enjoying hurting people, but about competition. Athletes competing, just as in any other sport such as baseball, football, soccer, etc...
Fighters are expected to use restraint when necessary and not doing so can lead to punishments. Or even fan backlash. Continued lack of restraint or cheating can even get you kicked out of an organization.

While it's true some people in these fields may take enjoyment from the actually hurting of others, this mentality is not encouraged among professional organizations. They are viewed as professional athletes and expected to act like it.
But people who enjoy hurting others isn't limited to these kinds of sports. You find such people in every aspect of life.

Good examples of this are videos I've seen of fighters using their skill to take down a criminal and subdue them, usually without striking them if possible.
One I recall a man tried to steal a woman's baby in a public area. She of course began resisting and screaming. People quickly ran to help and got them separated. But people were obviously angry at him and many men were crowding around and the situation seemed to be getting increasingly volatile. A fighter jumped in and subdued the guy on the ground, no hitting, and held him their till police arrived.
His reason? Obviously to ensure the creep didn't try to steal the baby again, but he also saw the crowd was getting riled up and he feared the man may be mobbed and beaten or even killed. So he stepped in to ease the whole situation for everyone's good.

Whether or not God finds these things acceptable, I get the reason to think He doesn't, and it may be true. But for myself I see trained athletes engaging in things they agree to ahead of time and put their lives into training for. If I'm wrong then God will tell me otherwise. Until then I'll not worry about it.

Sport generally can be harmful. In Christ, there are only winners. The spirit of competition leads to all kinds of aggression and, often, violence. Look at how ugly crowds can get. Yes, it is possible to be a Christian and an athlete, but it's a fine line to walk.

My dad was a boxer and briefly turned professional. A smart alec teenager insulted him on his 40th birthday. Dad laid him out with one punch. Boxing is not brainless. A lot of thought and strategy goes into a fight.

Having said that, I would not advise Christians (or anyone else) to get into boxing. Boxers can suffer irreversible brain damage. Research shows that around 20% of professionals suffer severe damage and most suffer some, even if there are no symptoms. That is apart from any spiritual considerations.

Another portion of the bible that gets abused by people wanting to condemn anything they don't like.

ali & tyson were talented greatly with boxing abilities. as long as boxing is sanctioned, that is legalized according to proper rules & safety it is alright. it is 1 of my favorite sports. & know this, God has given some people gifts for defense as soldiers & bodyguards.

your ignorance is letting you down...its not brainless hitting you obvious never been a fighter....it take years of of training to get into high physical fitness. it takes speed agility strategy and bravery. it's not about just hitting some one for pleasure it is a test of character pitting your wits against another person's strategy and strength, if you are mindless in the ring you will be waking up after 10 and thinking what just happened lol
ecclesiastes...a time for peace a time for war, violence if used correctly sometimes you have too protect friends family. it's a role of position, I did Thai boxing when I was younger and iv got so much respect for the warriors that achieve mastery of the art of fighting , there will be a time where we are at peace but for now in this system violence is sometimes necessary, if we allow evil to rule and they use violence to abuse their nations then only violence will put rulers to a lesson. why so you think politicians are so cocky and think they can do what they want, our ancestors faught for our freedoms and we have to do it again, the law of treason is punishable by death, yes Yeshua came as the Lamb but when He is here He is the Lion aswell, Muslims and politicians think Christians are weak because ignorant people think they can walk all over us but iam saying no too them. we need too stand up and show them that we are Sovereign Sons and Daughters of Of The Most High and we Should be treated with respect, but no we are disrespected, mocked, put down constantly and used just for cash, they think they are the boss but no they work for us...we should tell them what too do, not the other way round , they want too kill billions by newclear war!!! you think that deserves the death penalty ?

it doesn't have to be done for the glory of God. even though Colossians 3: 17 say: "and whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of Jesus...........", it doesn't mean EVERYTHING. when someone rides their bicycle, is that for the glory of Jesus? or how about throwing the garbage out, is that for the glory of Jesus? NO. this verse means your work, praising, praying, testifying, Bible study, alms, tithing, other giving, gift giving, works for the benefit of mankind, duties concerning your church, etc.

I don't think it gives glory to God. Fell asleep after watching boxing and had 2 nightmares. That's super strange for me and they were very vivid. That leads me to believe it's not God's kingdom.

My dad was a boxer and I followed it for a while. I'd not recommend anyone take it up. My dad was good but not professional grade. He was hurt quite a bit and gave up. Sure, there is a lot of science, art and plain hard work involved. But it is brutal. Dad flattened a young man. My dad had a birthday bash for his 40th. The young man was very rude. Dad thought it hilarious, a one punch knockout and at the age of 40. It would not have been so funny if his victim had hit his head on concrete and died.

but if your dad punched him in self defense, no worry if the guy died hitting his head on concrete, steel or whatever.
