Thanks David. Am I allowed to ask the reason behind your username of Deuteronomy? God bless x
Hello again Alison, you're welcome and, of course, I'll be happy to tell you the backstory of my username (though I hope that you are not expecting it to be for a deep, spiritual reason, because I'm afraid that you will be very disappointed if you are ).
I was a mod on a different forum a few years back and the owner asked me to pick a different username (than the one that I had always been known by on various Christian forums, "St_Worm2"). So, I picked "Papa Smurf" for my mod username, which was the nickname that the boys on the hockey team that I coached gave me, at least the one I knew about anyway (I'm guess'n because of my white beard and the navy-blue clothes that I always wore to practices).
While there as a mod, I needed another username at times (for several different purposes), and that's when I chose Deuteronomy. Actually, my full username was, "The Right-Reverend Deuteronomy Skaggs", which I borrowed from a friend who had created a character with that name for his radio (and later) television show.
In the end I thought that the entire name was too silly to continue with, but I liked the Deuteronomy part of it enough to use it here so, there you have it Like I said, not very spiritual.
The St. Worm username has a spiritual side to it, so at least one of them does It's shorthand for a little Latin phrase that the Reformer, Martin Luther, made famous concerning our salvation in Christ (on this side of the grave), "Simul Justus et Peccator", which translated means, "at the same time just and sinner".
If you actually read all of that, thank you for taking the time to do so, and if you didn't, I TOTALLY understand (I just got started and, clearly, couldn't stop ).
God bless you!!
~Deuteronomy (David)
p.s. - in case you'd actually like to read a bit more, here is one of my favorite passages and one of my favorite verses from Deuteronomy. Enjoy
Deuteronomy 11
18 You shall impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
19 You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.
20 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,
21 so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.
Deuteronomy 29
29 The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
