I have noted that at times during arguments about seemingly random matters, unbelievers will begin to attack the fact that I am a Christian.
They snipe out comments pointing out that I am a hypocrite or that I am obviously 'not a good Christian'. I presume they mean I ought to be a doormat and very saintly.

It is interesting that they think they know what a Christian ought to be. It seems to be a preoccupation with them.
I don't attack their atheism, it's no business of mine as each person has a choice what to believe. I am comfortable with my faith.

I believe that the reason why Christianity unsettles people is succinctly stated here.

Gal 5:11
And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.

When Paul mentioned circumcision here, he did so in direct relation to the law. Most people have no problem with some sort of moral law by which they seek to justify themselves, but they do get heavily offended by the cross of Christ. Why? Because the cross of Christ directly challenges any sort of self-righteousness they might feel based upon the moral law of their choosing, and they are therefore offended by it. In other words, the cross of Christ and the righteousness which can only be attained through it renders any attempt at self-righteousness null and void.

Anyhow, if you are suffering any sort of persecution due to the offense of Christ's cross, then rejoice in it.

Yeah, I do find that but I’m also finding that even on Christian sites people are ready to attack you if you share a different view on a subject these days.

I’ve not experienced it here I might add but I just had to leave many places as I just can’t take it, I’m tired of the fight, a fight there shouldn’t be.

Or maybe it’s just me 😁🤷🏻‍♂️

A Christian is someone who believes in Christ. It's not about behavior, it's about belief. Legalistic Christians and the world think it's about behavior. Christians aren't perfect but they are forgiven by the only one whose opinion matters, God. Growing in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and savior does change you, but our ultimate transformation takes place when we leave this body of corruption behind, and join the Lord in Heaven forever.

The world is divided between those who trust in Christ and those who trust in man (humanists). They man be religious but they are trusting in their own works. Their works are unacceptable to God because they are all tainted by the sin nature.

It seems to me that we are seeing increased hatred for Christ and His followers. I have been shocked a few times by the overt hatred of people who otherwise seemed reasonable. Out of the blue they blame the world's problems on Christians. But then if you believe we are living at the end of the church age, this is what you would expect. We seem to be racing to the end, and the world rejects God's grace and trusts in man. Lies and satanic propaganda are everywhere you turn. As in the days of Noah ...

Christ is an offense to those who don't believe:

1Peter 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1Peter 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

They try to feel good about themselves by picking at perceived flaws in you. It's human nature. I would either ignore it or, if you're feeling energetic and bored, turn it back on them. It won't do any good though, so ignoring it is probably the best option all around.

That kind of person will always find some way to make himself feel better in this manner. Arguing with these people is ultimately futile. They will get their little emotional boost and move on to find flaws with somebody else. Nothing you can do about it.

Christians are very vanilla compared to atheists. Even when Christians are insulting other Christians, more so online. It's not as bad as an atheist insulting. Probably from being full of the holy spirit, even if temper tantrums still occur.

There's definitely a difference though. If you don't believe me go on reddit and compare it to Christian forums. 😆 They're ruthless.
