Yes, so much NT truth there that I am astonished Dylan did not convert himself to faith in Christ. Apparently his wife at that time was a Christian influence, but I heard that later he disclaimed being a Christian, so I can only hope--similar to my hope re the BBs.
He did.

Glad to hear that! Got a secular song with biblical nuggets to share?

What about this old folk song "Come the Day" by the Seekers?

I know that one day soon a song shall rise
You'll hear it with the sleep still in your eyes
You'll wake to a brand-new day
Can you hear bells ringin', voices singin' far away?
A time when every man will be as one
A time to reach right out and touch the sun
Come the day

Freedom's still a thought within your mind
The fleeting thing that some may never find
It may be still a million miles away
Can you hear bells ringin', voices singin' far away?
A time to live without doubt or fear
Welcome to the happy world that will be here
Come the day

The trumpets of war will cease to blow
The sound I hope that we may never know
We're waiting for the day
Can you hear bells ringin', voices singin' far away?
Lift up your voices and sing this song
Let the whole world hear it loud and strong
Can you hear bells ringin' voices singin' far away?

Of course, we know this happy day will be Judgment Day, when we who are saved can reach out and touch the Son. :^)

Also, I had a season that God was speaking to me through music and musicians. One of the most special parts was when God sang this song to me:
Great song! Thanks for sharing. I am not as familiar with the Country genre, but became more of a fan because of Shania Twain. I know that more Country artists are Christians than there seems to be in the various Rock subgenres.

Here is a secular song with redeemed lyrics to have biblical nuggets:

“Dear God”
(Tune: the Beatles’ “Hey Jude”)

Dear God, sometimes I’m bad;
take my sad song and make it better.
The minute I let you into my heart,
then I can start to make it better.

Dear Lord, give me your love;
teach me compassion for all my brothers.
The minute I let you under my skin,
then I’ll begin to love them better.

And anytime I feel the pain, I’ll call your name,
Why carry the world upon my shoulders.
For now I know that it’s a fool who plays it cool,
Ignoring your peace, your love, the gospel.

Jesus, I won’t let you down;
you have loved me, now I will love everyone.
The minute I let you into my heart,
then I could start to love them better.

I’ll put hate out and let love in, Jesus, begin,
I’m waiting for someone to perform with.
And don’t you know that it’s just you, Jesus, you’ll do;
The moment you came loving had meaning.

Dear God, I’m no longer sad;
got your glad song, and I feel better,
The minute I let you under my skin,
then I began to make it better, better, …
Da, da da, da da da da,… Dear God. (repeat and fade)

Here is another secular song I redeemed by inserting biblical nuggets:

“Where Do You Fit?”
(Tune: The Who’s “And They Say We are in Love”)

Where do you fit in the history of sin,
with lust in your eye, and a passion for gin?
And how do you feel when the new day comes,
Does it matter one bit if you see her again?
And you say it’s love, but who do you love?

Look how you walk, full of hatred and pride;
Your money buys much, that can’t be denied,
But tell me right now, don’t put on your act:
Is your life worth two cents; are you happy inside?
You say you love God, but who is your god?

You never think of the future or past;
The time that you get, you’re spending too fast.
Like a woman in childbirth, you think that your pain
Will be over soon, it surely can’t last.
You say Christ was good, but who nailed Him to that wood?
Yes, Jesus loves you, but do you love Him, too?

I could not adjust the color, but oh well
That's because you inserted hidden links with the copied text. You can avoid that by toggling the BB code cog (last icon above message box on the right hand side). Once you insert the text with code off, you can turn it back on and there will be no hidden links in the text.

I know one that I bet nobody else here knows...

I found it on a video game called sleeping dogs.

They say a pictures worth a thousand words
I disagree
To me a scriptures worth a thousand pictures

They say that money is the root of all evil
And money doesn't grow on trees
I disagree cause most money is paper
Taken from the wood like branches and leaves
Need money to live
Need trees to breathe
And we all wanna snap branches from the tree (trees)
And we all visit bank branches for the peace
There's no evil in money, the evil's in the greed
A friend in need is a friend indeed
Think twice before you speak to a friend in need
Lend a friend money he becomes your enemy
Beware of your friends coming on a bended knee

Okay, thanks.
(Although next time I will C&P a text in black like I usually do, because I did not understand a word you said :^)

Rap, I found these lyrics about half way through the song, not sure what the rest of them are.
As a doo-wop and BB fan, I miss melody and harmony, but
as a former English teacher I appreciate the rhyme and repetition poetic techniques
as well as the bank branches pun and biblical allusion to the root of evil.

Good find!

If you copy text that has hidden inks in it, it will always show up blue unless you remove the html code. Surely you understand what an icon is? And you can see that there are several above the message box when you are typing out any post? And the last one on the right hand side looks like a cog? If you hover your cursor over any of those icons, you get a little message telling you what the icon does. The cog icon turns off hidden html so that when you insert text with hidden html coded into it, none of the code transfers over. I can insert html code into my message to make a link any colour I want, but the default is blue. So if you see random blue text in someone's post, it is likely a link to some related page, or the source page. I usually bold my links and also inform people that the text that contains the link, is a link.

My wife and I were watching some old Midnight Specials last Friday night, and they had some dynamite talent on that show. I remember when I was in my early twenties, I fell in love with "power ballads" and easy rock love songs. I had a longing for love (I know...barf), and I just had that hope that love was a reality - I found that ultimately in Jesus Christ who has taught me what true and lasting agape love is.

I've found that most of the great love songs can have the lyrics tweaked a little to sing praises and express love to our God. Here's one of my favorites from Ambrosia:

"You're the biggest part of me..." Lord!

"Let my love rain down on you" Always God!

"Got a feeling that forever, we are going to stay together" Amen!

There's a new sun arisin'
(In your eyes) I can see a new horizon
(Realize) That will keep me realizin'
You're the biggest part of me
Need your lovin' here beside me
(Shine the light) Need it close enough to guide me
(All my life) I've been hopin' you would find me
You're the biggest part of me

Well, make a wish, baby
And I will make it come true
Make a list baby, of the things I'll do for you
Ain't no risk in lettin' my love rain down on you
So we can wash away the past so that we may start anew
Risin' over my shoulder
(Love flows) Gettin' better as we're older
(All I know) All I wanna do is hold her
She's the life that breathes in me
Got a feelin' that forever
Together) We are gonna stay together
(Forever) For me there's nothing better
You're the biggest part of me

Well, make a wish, baby
And I will make it come true
Make a list baby, of the things I'll do for you
Ain't no risk in lettin' my love rain down on you
So we can wash away the past so that we may start anew

More than an easy feelin'
She brings joy to me
How can I tell you what it means to me
Flow like a lazy river
For an eternity
I finally found someone who believes in me
And I'll never leave
(Now I've found all I need)
Need your lovin' here beside me
(To guide me) Keep it close enough to guide me
(Inside of me) From the fears that are inside of me
You're the biggest part of me

Got a feelin' that forever
(Together) We are gonna stay together
(Forever) From now until forever
You're the biggest part or me
You're the life that breathes in me
You're the biggest part of me
You changed my life
You made it bright
And I'll be a savior to you
For the rest of my life
Oh, oh the biggest part of me

Nice song--and the nuggets became a mother lode toward the end!

My turn again? How about "There's a Reason" by the Cascades:

There's a reason for a snowfall
A reason why a tree's tall
A reason why a star is bright
A reason why the moon glows
A reason why the wind blows
A reason why it's dark at night

But I don't know why I should cry
Just because you said goodbye

There must be a reason
I liket o know why
Oh why, oh I like to know

There's a reason for a sunbeam
A reason for a daydream
A reason why the desert's dry
A reason why a stream falls
A reason why there's rainbows
A reason for a cloudy sky

I'd like to know why

There was a time when I could smile
We'd sit and talk of us awhile
Times I never got your love
And thanked my lucky stars above

(In the same vein as "Who Will Answer" shared previously)
