The Work of the Spirit Justifying in Salvation !

The Work of the Spirit in Salvation by Christ , Paul wrote 1 Cor 6:11

11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Now just how are we members of The Church Justified by the Spirit of Our God, Our Covenant God ? Well, all for whom Christ died, He is their Saviour, because His Redemptive Death paid the full price they owed to God's Law and Justice, and He accomplished this for a whole World of men, and so it is that each member of this World of men shall be made to know sensibly of their sinfulness by nature, and of their natural unbelief, for the Glory of God through Christ Jesus. So one of the ways He Justifies those whom Christ died for, is that He gives them a right view of their sinfulness and unbelief Jn 16:8-9

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Though all men are sinners by nature, none will deny, but not all are sensible to their sinfulness, as was the case with the pharisee and Publican Lk 18; Yes the pharisee in all his religious ways did not sensibly consider himself wicked and sinful before God as the Publican of which he conveniently pointed out Lk 18:11

11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

But so much different was the tax collector's prayer, who was made sensible of his sinfulness and need of mercy, and so that is why Jesus stated that He came not to call the righteous [ who think they are] but sinners [made sensible by the Spirit] to repentance Matt 9:13. The point is, yes true, both men were sinners, but only one of them was made to know it sensibly and experientially, and to come to a sense of hopelessness, the reason being is that such ones are now being made to ready have a Righteousness of God, which they are in need of revealed to them as theirs through the Gospel !

The Work of the Spirit Justifying in Salvation !

Secondly, the Spirit Justifies when He reveals to the made sensible sinner, Christ Righteousness imputed to them, which means, He takes of things of Christ [ His Justifying Blood and Righteousness] and shows them to us Jn 16:14

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

That word shew is the greek word anaggellō and means:

to announce, make known

2) to report, bring back tidings, rehearse

It also means to declare as in Acts 20:27

Also the word is translated to Report as in 1 Pet 1:12

12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Note: Though God may use human instruments to preach the Gospel, it will not be effective unless its also preached or declared by the Holy Ghost into us internally, and by this the Gospel is become the Power of God unto Salvation [conversion] to everyone who is believing, for by it a Righteousness of God is being revealed [By the Spirit's shewing] from Faith to Faith, and hence cometh to pass the sure promise, The Just shall live by Faith, made so [Just] by the obedience and blood of Jesus Christ Rom 1:16-17; Rom 5:19, and the Spirit makes it known. Therefore by this Revealing work of the Spirit, He works Faith or Believing, for there is no True Faith or Believing without first something is revealed to give us the reason to believe, a fact to rest on; and this is where Faith and Repentance have their togetherness, in that we are turned from dead works to Faith in Christ, resting and trusting in what has been revealed consciously, His Righteousness Imputed, and so believing is of the Work of God [Holy Spirit] in Us Jn 6:29, By this The Spirit Justifies us !

The Work of the Spirit Justifying in Salvation !

Finally, it is by the Work of the Holy Spirit, that saving witness is obtained that one is a Child of God, and that we had a Personal interest in that Righteousness of God that Christ wrought out for God's Elect People, His Israel of God, and so it is by this internal witness Rom 8:16

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit and inner conscious, that we are the children of God:

And by this comes our Conscious Justification, that is we have now been declared Righteous Consciously, and so Justified in the Name of the Lord [on account of His Imputed Righteousness] and by the Spirit of Our God, who it is that shews to us this Great Blessing ! 3

We see God the Holy Spirit work His Power in causing both Faith and Repentance on the day of Pentecost only days earlier, some had Crucified Christ in Unbelief, Peter made mention of it Acts 2:23

23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

But now that the Spirit had come, when the Day of Pentecost had fully arrived, it was to them a Spirit of Grace or the Grace of the Spirit causing them to Look upon Him whom they had pierced Zech 12:10

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look[Faith] upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn[Godly Sorrow] for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

And so it True of what Paul wrote later 1 Cor 12:3, for these people on that Day were beginning to Calling Jesus Lord and Christ by the Holy Spirit !

To Glorify Christ !

The Spirit's Work is to Glorify Christ !

Jn 16:14

He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

That word Glorify here means in this context:

) to cause the dignity and worth of some person or thing to become manifest and acknowledged

This should put to shame those blasphemers who say, that Christ's Death is worthless apart from the Work of The Spirit, may God hold them to that in the Day of Judgment !

This Work of the Spirit is accomplished, Glorifying Christ, by bringing all for whom Christ died into Faith or Obedience. That is what in meant here Acts 5:32

32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

Or He has given to those now obeying Him, the Spirit being the Author of that Obedience !

1 Pet 1:2

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Again, obedience coming from the Spirit's Sanctifying Work !

He successfully makes known to all the Heirs of Grace the Value and Worth of Christ's Finished Work, and of His Person as God Man !

He not only Glorifies Christ by the Believers initial Believing in Christ for Righteousness and Salvation, but He also is the cause of our continuing in the Faith of Christ, and Living in the Faith of the Son of God, who Loved us and Gave Himself for us Gal 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 3

The Covenant Work of the Holy Spirit under the New Covenant ministration is primarily Gospel Centered, Evangelical Centered in making ready a people prepared of the Lord Lk 1:17

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Making ready the redeemed of the Lord, by capacitating them spiritually to embrace the good news of their Salvation. This He does by giving them New Birth, by this He gives them a Spiritual and Sanctified Understanding to spiritually discern the Eternal Truths of the Everlasting Gospel Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

1 Cor 2:12-14

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things the Gospel reveals !

This scripture without doubt confirms New Birth preceding believing the Gospel and in order to to believing it Eph 1:13

13 Which things also we speak [The Gospel], not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

If not for this, the Preaching of the Eternal Truths of the Gospel would be but foolishness 1 Cor 1:18, that same word foolishness is used again in 1 Cor 2:14, so that reasonably denotes that the Preaching of the Cross in 1 Cor 1:18 and the things of the Spirit of God in 1 Cor 2:14 are one and the same, for Paul makes it plain what was the principle of His Preaching here 1 Cor 2:2, this makes it even more plainer that the things of God in vs 14 were related to the Preaching of the Cross or Christ Crucified. The Holy Spirit makes the Called one's meet by New Birth, to be called into the fellowship with the Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ 1 Cor 1:9 ; 2 Thess 2:14, for this Blessed Call in the Gospel and Holy Call 2 Tim 1:9 would not go out to sinners dead in trespasses and sins and yet unholy, alienated from the Life of God, and yet still enemies in their minds by wicked works, for God does not call for and summons fellowship with the likes of that, we must already be spiritually prepared for the Lord !

Thanks for the thread on the Holy Spirit. His work is important and is often overlooked in the process of salvation.
One of my favorite Psalms is Psalm 24. Beginning at verse 3 it states:

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Early on in my growth as a Christian, this made me come to an abrupt halt and say Woe is me!. I fell short in all areas mentioned. But, the Holy Spirit taught me that the righteousness of Christ provided for all my needs.

Thanks be to God........................

He will reprove the world of sin

Jn 16:8-10

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

He shall reprove or convince the World of sin, a very specific world, for the article is present before it, it is the World that God so Loved, that He gave His only Begotten Son in behalf of Jn 3:16 for its sins 1 Cor 15:3, and so it is in alignment with this Purpose, The Holy Ghost convinces or reproves each member of this World of their experiential union with the fallen adam, and the corruption of our human nature because of it, the enmity and unbelief in our hearts, and the perverseness and slavery of our wills to sin, and then it cometh to pass, that they are all Taught of God, and learned of Him, of their depravity and lack of strength [ Rom 5:6] and so then they come to Christ, via the Gospel and have revealed to them a Righteousness Jn 6:45

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

The teaching and learning here are both providential and doctrinal and spiritual as it relates to the Gospel by which their Righteousness is Revealed Rom 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. 3

What does it mean to resist the Spirit ?

Acts 7:51

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

The word resist here is the greek word antipiptō and means:

to fall upon, run against

2) to be adverse, oppose, strive against

This resisting of the Spirit or the Holy Ghost is when the natural man, dead in sins, manifests his enmity of heart, of his uncircumcised heart at that, of the Testimony of the Truth given by God's Servants, for instance when Stephen testified of the Truth to dead spiritually jews here it is stated Acts 7:51-52

51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

Now compare with Neh 9:30

30 Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands.

This is a external work of the Spirit for testification, and has nothing to do with His Work of Giving Life/ New Birth, or His Sanctifying Work unto belief of the Truth 2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

This is when God the Spirit actually gives a circumcised heart ! Deut 30:6

And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Stephen knew that the jews he spake to in Acts 7:51-52 were not of this seed !

Through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth

2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

No one can believe the Truth of God without first being partakers of this Work of the Spirit, for thats His main Purpose for being sent into the World for Christ's Sake ! For its by His Work here that all for whom Christ died are given a Saving Knowledge of the Truth, that is, for all God does desire to come into the Knowledge of the Truth as stated here 1 Tim 2:4

4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

The Holy Spirit answers God's desire and will here to bring all these men to the Truth.

By this [Sanctifying] Work of the Spirit in them, they are given Spiritual discernment to embrace the Things of God, the Truth of God 1 Cor 2:12-14

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.[Which things the Truth set forth]

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

You see that ? The Knowledge of the Truth to save us cannot be known apart from the Spirit's Work, because they are things spiritually discerned.

He is then to them [all whom Christ died] a Spirit of Wisdom as per Eph 1:17-18

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

A Hope called to by the Gospel ! Col 1:5

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; 3

Okay, if you don't want to understand via the paragraph by paragraph method, try the way I employed with Jimbone:

1. I do believe His Spirit plays a role and studying the word is the only real way to be guided. This is why I try not to be sinfully proud that my initials are GW and why I named my son Paul.

2. I admit that my own understanding may have errors, and I continually amend or update my website as I learn. At this time my main study is enumerating the teachings of Paul, which I am posting on that thread.

3. When we are born again, we receive eternal life and the Holy Spirit, although we will still need to experience death and then be resurrected.

4. Yes, Jesus took our punishment and the full weight of God's righteous wrath against sin was poured on His head, so that God could not only justly forgive these sins, but also apply, by His grace, Jesus' righteousness to us. This is called imputed righteousness. Then begins the lifelong process of learning God's word beyond the Gospel so that we may grow spiritually toward the goal of actual righteousness that we will attain in heaven. This is the only way we can be pleasing to God.

5. The lost may imitate "good" work, but it is like filthy rags because they do not glorify the God who is Good and who determines what is good.

6. I hope this helps to clarify your misunderstanding of my points. I really appreciate having constructive conversations with y'all, because I view myself as perhaps the lead learner here on CC.
Recently I decided to offer to put everyone's input on our website <truthseekersfellowship.com> at appropriate places,
but please try to adhere to the parameters I set for myself, including:

1. Append Scripture references to support logical inferences.
2. Attempt to harmonize opposing viewpoints instead of being argumentative.
3. Be pithy (using acronyms in the list), but address questions obviously begged by your comment.

So, do you have a condensed version of your monologue I can consider for the website?
Not sure if it would need to be a separate lesson. Lesson 1 is mainly about God as Creator/Savior, and Lesson 2 focuses on Christ and the Christian Creed, so we might need for Lesson 3 to focus on God the HS before considering the TOJ etc.
If you do want to work on this idea, please submit your first installment for us to discuss. Thanks.

Whats your understanding of the Holy Spirit in Salvation ?
Same as yours I hope.

Here is the introduction to the lesson/topic I would propose:

03. The Holy Spirit

How Humans Experience God

In Lesson 1 it was explained why faith in God as revealed in the Bible and especially the NT is the best belief or hope for salvation, and Lesson 2 focused on the Gospel of Christ and explained the Christian creed. This main purpose of this lesson is to explain how humanity can experience and fellowship with the Holy Spirit of God/Christ.

The OT Shema (DT 6:4) teaches that God is one, and the NT also affirms that there is one God (EPH 4:6, 1TM 2:5). However, the NT teaches that God relates to believers in three ways simultaneously: as the Father, as the Son and as the Holy Spirit. God as the heavenly Father is indicated in Jesus’ model prayer (MT 6:9), throughout the Gospel of John (3:35, 5:17-18, etc.), and in the epistles of Paul (RM 4:11, 8:15, PHP 2:11). God the Father and Christ’s Sonship are discussed in Hebrews 1:1-4. The Son of God also is mentioned by John (JN 1:14, 3:16, etc.) and by Paul (RM 1:4, GL 2:20, 1THS 1:10). The Holy Spirit is mentioned in three successive chapters in John (JN 14:26, 15:26, 16:13), frequently in the book of Acts (ACTS 1:5, 2:4, 9:17, 13:2, 19:2), and in many of Paul’s letters (RM 8:4-26, 1CR 6:19, EPH 4:30) as well as in some of the other epistles (2PT 1:21, JUDE 20).

The triune God’s “persons” may be distinguished by role: God the Father as creator or initiator (GN 1:1), God the Son as Messiah or mediator (1TM 2:5), and God the Spirit as indweller (RM 5:5). For example, 1 John 4:7 says love comes from (is initiated by) God (the Father), Galatians 5:22 says that love is a fruit of the (indwelling) Spirit, and Ephesians 3:18 speaks of the (mediating) love of Christ (RM 5:8, EPH 2:18). We can denote these distinctions by the use of three prepositions: God the Father is over all creation (EPH 4:6), God the Son is Immanuel or with humanity (MT 1:23), and the Holy Spirit is within all believers (EPH 1:13). A single passage that comes closest to indicating this distinction is Ephesians 3:14-19, in which Paul prays to the Father that through His Spirit of love Christ would dwell in believers’ hearts (also see 1CR 8:6).

Please take it from here...

Receiving the Truth !

1 Thess 2:13

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

Whenever we read of any receiving the Word of God or Truth thats an evidence of them having already been Sanctified by the Spirit unto belief of the Truth. For instance we read of some jews in berea Acts 17:10-11

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

They received the truth with readiness of mind, thats because of the Spirit's Sanctifying Work 2 Thess 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Unto belief of the Truth as in the Gospel, the Word of Truth Eph 1:13

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

These here without the Spirit's activity of 2 Thess 2:13 would not have spiritually heard the Truth nor Trusted in it.

Eph 1:13 is not describing the activity of the Natural man in the flesh, who is at enmity with God Rom 8:7-8

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

These do not receive the Word of Truth with all readiness of mind !

Jn 16:7

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

The word expedient also conveys the meaning of [appropriate for a purpose]. The Lord Jesus Christ is giving His disciples [The Church] to know the importance of the need of the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, to come and to assist in their commission of evangelism, not only would He aid them, but He is needed for the gathering in of the rest of the Church, the people Christ died for.

The Holy Spirit was responsible to apply the saving benefits to all Christ died for, the Church, His Body. He came to regenerate all of God's elect as it was according to The Everlasting Covenant of which Christ is the Surety.

Isa 59:21

As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

The coming of the Spirit to regenerate is a covenant promise [Ezk 36:26-27] and blood purchased, He works by means of the Father and the Son [Jn 14:26], as this is realized we give Glory To God Triune for the Salvation of a sinner, and Thank Them for the saving Operations of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit works from the Father's decree 2 Thess 2:13

13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

And the Son's redemption Gal 4:5

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Rom 8:15

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

And so He is sent to make effective what was counseled in the Everlasting Covenant for the experimental salvation of God's people that Christ died for.

To all the Father elected, all whom Christ died, the Spirit is given to them as the Spirit of promise. The Holy Spirit is the bond of union between the elect members and Christ their Head, He unites us to Christ experimentally because we have the Same Spirit He has, that is the Holy Spirit in the Head is in the members, so He works like effects for the same, if He quickens the Head as here:

Rom 8:11

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

1 Pet 3:18

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

He will also quicken the Members..

Thats why each dead spiritually elect or chosen in Christ Eph 1:4 will be quickened while dead in trespasses and sins Eph 2:1,4,5

1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved )

This is a work of the Spirit in Salvation, why it was expedient that Christ go away that He may come and begin His Saving, quickening Ministry, at this time He would mostly work in behalf of the apostles to prepare the elect to receive their word..
Okay, here is my synopsis of your OP:

A study of the HS might well begin with the statements of Jesus in the gospel of John. In JN 14:16-18 Jesus said, “I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth... [who] will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” This indicates that the indwelling Spirit is how Jesus enters the hearts of believers as they open the door and invite him in (per RV 3:20). Jesus mentioned the Spirit again in JN 15:26, saying “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.” And yet again in JN 16:13-14 Jesus said, “When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.”

We see in these passages an identification of the Spirit with truth or the word of God, which we also find in the OT, such as IS 59:21b, “My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth, or from the mouths of your children… forever, says the Lord.” And also in EZK 36:26-27, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you… I will put my Spirit in you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”

Paul referred to the role of the HS in connection with God’s Word in 2THS 2:13b, “From the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.” We see in this statement an example of using “and” to indicate equivalence rather than addition of something different. Paul tied the work of the HS to the Gospel in v. 2:14 and also in GL 4:6, “Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, Abba, (Father).” In RM 8:9-16, Paul said “You are controlled… by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you… your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through the Spirit, who lives in you… If by the Spirit you you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God… by him we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” Paul also wrote of being adopted as God’s sons and receiving the HS in EPH 1:5a&13b, “In love God predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ… Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised HS.”

Peter wrote of being made alive by the indwelling Spirit in 1PT 3:18b, “[Christ] was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”

Of sin, because they believe not on me !

Jn 16:8-9

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Its the Work of the Spirit of God,as an confirmation to and a extension of the Blessed Effects and Accomplishments of Christ's Saving, Redeeming Death, to give Faith or cause to Believe everyone in that World for whom Christ died and is their Saviour. He will persuade them to believe on Him, for He works Faith in them by His Power 1 Thess 1:5

5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

This is that operation of power that effects Faith or Belief Eph 1:19-20

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

2 Thess 1:11

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

All True Believers are the True Children of Abraham, the Father of the Faithful Rom 4:11-12, and so the Spirit begets in his Children of Promise, the same like precious Faith as it did in him Gal 3:14

14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. The we are all Abraham's Spiritual Children.

It gives the same kind of Faith it did Father Abraham, whom He fully Persuaded that what God had promised, He was able to Perform Rom 4:21

21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

True Faith or Persuasion in the Gospel is produced by the Power of God, also stands by the same Power 1 Cor 2:5

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

1 Pet 1:5

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Which Faith Father Abraham was given and had Rom 4:21; and the Persuasion of Faith whether OT or NT is the Result of the Spirit's Work, and premised on Christ's Finished and accomplished Work !

The Holy Spirit shall bring the World Christ died for to Faith ! 3

Sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise !

Eph 1:13-14

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

What is this Holy Spirit of Promise ? Remember Peter Preached also Acts 2:38-39

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Spirit is a Promised Gift by God to all the Seed. Isa 44:1-3

Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

2 Thus saith the Lord that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun [Israel], whom I have chosen.

3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

This Seed are those who belong to Christ, God's Chosen, and of course, all them Chosen in Him Eph 1:4, are His Seed, and so the Promise of the Holy Spirit is being Promised to be poured upon His Seed, Hence the Spirit of Promise.

The Spirit of Promise was promised by God the Father, to the Son of God, for His Faithful Obedience unto the engagements of the Everlasting Covenant, whereby He would die for the sins of His Seed given Him Isa 53:10

10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

His Seed here is that which went astray as sheep Isa 53:6

6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

And it was for them, their iniquity, that Christ died and was raised, and because of His successful Life and death in satisfying God's Law on their behalf, His Ascension, He was in behalf of them, and for their spiritual good, given a Reward, that was to Pour out of the Spirit of Promise unto them,to them He Justified, Acts 2:33

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

This begins the fulfillment of the Promise from Isa 44:1-3. That's why also Isa 53:10 celebrates that Christ shall see [care for or provide care for] His Seed

He will pour out the Spirit of Promise upon that Seed He died for, that it be for their Spiritual Conversion, Upon each member of that Seed, and their Salvation will be announced by their Spiritual Hearing through the Gospel, they shall believe it, and be sealed with that Holy Spirit of Promise. He seals each member of that Seed of His [Isa 53:10] in the Truth of the Gospel of their Salvation, and the Spirit of Promise shall be given to all the Seed, and as to many as God shall call of that Seed up unto the End of the Age Acts 2:38-39

Isa 44:3

3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring or Children Yes, even all the Children God gave to Christ Heb 2:13

13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 4

Here is my summary of post #2:

In GL 5:22-23a, Paul listed the fruit of the Spirit, including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. HB 10:39 also speaks of faithfulness, saying “We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.” The Bible makes it clear that faithfulness or persevering faith is essential to salvation, just as faith in the redemptive work of Christ was the condition for getting saved.

The priority of saving faith in the order of salvation is also indicated in EPH 2:8-10, ACTS 16:30-31 and RM 1:16-17. Such faith is described as the sanctifying work of the HS in conjunction with belief in the truth in 2THS 2:13, and when speaking of faith as the condition of salvation, it is wrong to view it as meritorious rather than as an undeserved gift.
