Doesn't it seem strange that Babylon is suddenly charged with making nations drink the wine of wrath when Babylon was not mentioned prior to Revelation 14:10? I suggest that Babylon was mentioned under a different name -- the beast coming up out of the earth (Rev. 13:11).

1st reason: Both Babylon and the Beast from the Land make people drink the wine of wrath

Rev. 14:8 (NKJV) And another angel followed, saying, “Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

Who makes people worship the beast and his image and to receive the mark? Answer: The beast from the land (Rev. 13:12, 14-15, 16-17)

2nd reason: Both exercise the authority of the beast from the sea

Rev. 17:3 ... And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast ...
Rev. 17:18 "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”

Rev. 13:12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence ...

What do you think?
To me Babylon means being in a state of confusion or deception. Rev 12:7-9, Rev 13:11-14 and II Thes 2:3-4 all foretell of Satan being thrown down to earth from heaven and that he will come claiming to be God. Satan will deceive all those that don't know he comes first, before Jesus, into worshipping him as God. This will cause a very great falling away from worshipping the true God due to Satan's strong deception, false doctrines, lies and signs, Rev 13-13. All those that are in Babylon (confused and deceived) and worship the beast (Satan) will have the wrath of God poured out upon them.

I wrote this very unpopular post a while ago:

This is Revelation 12 verse 1:

"Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.”

So, we see the woman here first.

To continue in the next verses:

“3 And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. 4 His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. 5 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. 6 Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.”

This male child is not Jesus. He is the corporate Christ represented by the fully mature saints. The “rod of iron” and the “throne” establish Christ’s power and authority: they are unmatched and unquestionable.

But notice then, that woman flees into the wilderness.

After this, the angels are thrown down to the earth. They leave their spiritual abode for the temporal abode in the earth. This is why the dragon is angry: now he is ruled by time and his time is short.

The dragon's ire gives rise to the next verses:

“Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. 14 But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent."

This is the unfolding of a singular event. The serpent's actions are very specific:

15 "So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. 16 But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

In the scriptures, water may signify word. It may also mean people. Perhaps here it means both.

However, the earthed helps the woman. Isn’t that strange? When has the earth ever helped the church? It swallows the people and their curse. Could it be the earth saw value in saving the woman? So, the dragon turns to make war with the rest of her offspring. This is not the mature male child; these are those from the woman (church) who are their own groups.

So, where do we find the woman again? Or, rather, when is John carried into the wilderness again and what does he see?
We have to flip to Revelation 17.

Verse 3 reads: “So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness.”

So, John is carried into the wilderness to see what?

Verses 1 and 2: “Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.”

This is the same woman who fled into the wilderness in chapter 12.

So, this is why the earth, typically an enemy of the church/woman, saved the woman from the attack of the beast in Revelation 12:15,16; the woman was useful to the earth. And notice that she now sits on many waters which is what the dragon spewed out of his mouth. This is now her foundation: the word of the people (many waters).

Fornication refers to improper intimacy with the woman. The rulers of the earth use the woman for their political gain and the woman uses the earth to gain influence over the people.

Verse 3 continues into verse 5: “And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

These names of blasphemy are likely any name under which the church gathered as a symbol of their identity.

So, the woman, who fled into the wilderness in chapter 12, becomes the harlot we see again in Chapter 17.

Her antecedents did not have a global reach. In the end, she will cover the whole earth.

This male child is not Jesus.
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.”

When Israel ( jacobs family ) was led into Egypt he had this dream of the family of Israel

“And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I ( sun) and thy mother ( moon) and thy brethren ( 12 stars including Jacob) indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭37:9-10‬ ‭

Israel was promised a male child who would rule all nations with a rod of iron . The messiah. So it was like a women expecting a child , israel had been told this and was expecting it

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, When his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭2:6-9, 12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

eventually jesus was born and Satan tries to stop and destroy him before he accomplished his work but he failed and Jesus rose from the grave and then was caught up to God and to his throne as he said he would

“Hereafter shall the Son of man ( promised man child the Christ ) sit on the right hand of the power of God.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:69‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:19‬ ‭

“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; ( David was promised that his son would sit on the throne at Gods right hand forever it’s be of the reasons israel were expecting a man child be born to rule ) he seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:30-33‬ ‭

The expected man child is the promised messiah who israel expected beforhand and who was born and overcame satans plan to stop him and who was raised up to the throne at Gods right hand and who will once again step off his throne and return in the end of the world

He has to be there until the time of restoration of all things

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”( this is why isreel expected the son to be born Gods been foretelling it since the beginning )
‭‭Acts‬ ‭3:19-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The one who was raised up into heaven Will one day return in the same way to gather his people

“And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭1:9-11‬

In revelation brother all those visions Jesus is usually the main character the triumphant one the lamb receiving the kingdom in chapter 5 the man child who was raised up to the throne to be rule all nations with a rod of iron the rider of n the white horse when he returns ect

The same one here is Jesus going into heaven after he died and rose

“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is him returning notice he’s still the one to rule with an iron rod

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND Lord OF LORDS.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:11-

Jesus is the main theme of revelation and we’re seeing what the Bible had been saying about him since the beginning of time

Jesus and Christ Jesus are the same being but not of the same nature. For one, Jesus was a man with a body. His body could be killed or injured. Christ Jesus (after Jesus died and was resurrected) is a life-giving Spirit. His Body is multifaceted and includes all who are of faith in God. So in Christ, the many promised children of God make up the flesh and bones of Christ Jesus.

In the Old Testament, we awaited the Messiah who would be formed within Israel. This was Jesus with a man's body.

In the New Testament, we await Christ Who appears, who is formed within ALL who are of faith. This is Christ with a many-membered Body.

The appearing of Christ does not only refer to His second-coming. It may also refer to His appearing in the saints individually and corporately.

Paul would write this to the Galatian believers:

"My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you..."

In the same vein, Paul wrote this:

"If then you have been raised with Christ (this is past-tense), seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died (this is past-tense), and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory..."

So then Paul tells us what that glory looks like...

"Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry."
etc. etc.

This is the destruction of behaviors and mind-sets that typically attend a man of the world.

So, for example, when others are losing hold of their emotions in trying times and you are not, and someone says to you "How can you be so calm?" you know it is Christ in you; the light that shines from within. "Glory to God!"

So, to pick up the Revelation passage about the Woman with 12 stars in her crown...

Her historical antecedent is the nation of Israel. The child born is Jesus. But John is seeing the perfect presentation of these things, not the shadows that we read about in the Old testament.

With that understanding, we should see ALL WHO ARE OF PROMISE as the woman (the church) and the man-child who is born as those who are mature in Christ. This is the present understanding. John did not need a history lesson. He was being shown what was to happen with antecedents he would have understood.

This is the Spirit of Christ and the church, who is His bride, conceiving and giving birth to a corporate son (many-membered) who properly reflects the Father. Much of the church will go into the wilderness to be corrupted by the earth but the corporate son will not be.

This is why Paul talked about "giving birth" and "laboring like a woman" and having children.... he understood that Christ in us gives birth to a corporate son.

If we miss this, Revelation becomes some esoteric history spectacle; something men can brag about when they connect the dots to the old stories. No. We are seeing Christ Jesus, the Word, unfold in perfection and completeness. This is done so that we can recognize the reflections of these things in the earth when they appear in our time.

“Jesus and Christ Jesus are the same being but not of the same nature. “

so jesus has a duel nature ? Yet he’s one bieng ? I’m already lost brother Jesus is the exact representation of zgod the father manifest in the flesh and blood of mankind the Christ. There isn’t another version of Jesus as far as I know he’s the same then now and forever

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭

if we come to know Jesus through his gospel and believing then we’ve come to know the Lord as he is and will always be. But that’s only my own opinion from scripture I do t see Jesus being one being but having two natures or anything

the same Jesus who walked the earth will return to the earth from heavens throne like the Bible says he will . Raise and judge the dead and gsther his people for a new creation upon the earth

every chapter in revelation is shown in prophecy beforehand not just the man child born to the woman clothed with the sun moon and crown of twelve stars . Any chapter after John is taken up into heaven to see the vision of the lamb in the center of the throne . Which of course is Jesus I would think that’s agreeable

Babylon is not the beast from the land but the beast from the sea that makes war with the saints as what written in Revelation 13:7, the same thing in Revelation 18:24 that Babylon guilty of the blood of the saints!
Babylon is only the first head of the beast each head represents a ruling kingdom beginning with Babylon and nebucadnezzar the first beast in daniels vision to rule over and oppress Jerusalem. Because of thier rebellion against Gods law.

check out daniels visions of the four kingdoms ( beasts ) with seven heads and ten horns and nite that they have the same appearance as johns single beast with seven heads and ten horns

johns vision is when the sixth head is ruling and the seventh was about to rise to power. So he only sees a single beast because five kingdoms have already ruled since daniels vision

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen,( johns past )

and one is,( johns present )

and the other is not yet come;(johns near future )

and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭17:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

at he beastof the sea is made up of four major kingdoms and one that has four heads it was Babylon , then media Persia overthrew Babylon and rose to power , then Greece conquered the world under Alexander the Great and when he died his four generals divided and ruled the kingdom he had won……this was what formed the Roman Empire which was ruling in johns time seeing the visions of revelation. The sixth king of the beast he says was ruling currently . Most likely Nero eas the seventh head who was about to rise up

But then there’s even more to the beast a distant future of a single king returning who was of those original seven who suddenly has ten companions that all let him have thoer power for a short time. which is the ten horns with ten crowns upon the head that appears to have been killed , but yet lives who comes up from the abyss and goes into perdition. And rules for a short time with the ten minion kings

After the seven heads rule then later one of those seven returns

“And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of Lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭17:10-14‬ ‭

The beast of the sea is actually made up of 18 kings of successive kingdoms that have ruled the earth as Babylon had done with the blessing of God to fulfill his word in the ot.

nebucadnezzar king of babylon is the first head of the beast and could represent also the one who returns in the end in some form .

“Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. ( Babylon )

And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee,( Persia )

and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. ( Greece after Alexander the Great conquered the ancient world Alexander’s four generals who led to the Roman e pores formation later)

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭2:37-40‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Why is this hard to understand?

Jesus could be killed. Christ cannot be. In what way would you describe that difference?
