I had a conversation with someone in the Bible discussion app that just kept fighting tooth and nail with me, and decided he just wasn’t going to believe anything I have to say. Why do we have non believers on here who swear they are Christians?

It’s just really freaking annoying.

Plus, right after that, I listened to a sermon about tithing, after I listened to someone for years tell me that I didn’t have to tithe. I even went on Christian sites that said you don’t have to tithe.

Now I have a criitical spirit because I listened to a human. I don’t like what I’ve become. And now I have to give to build up financially?

They also said that I can give my time towards something.

I’ve literally been working my *ss off.

I used to earn over 20 times than I earn right now.

It’s just really frustrating why that happened and why God allows these things to happen.

Tithing can be, and has been, debated for decades. Everybody has his own favorite verses to prove why we are or are not required to pay tithes.

I ignore it all.

I pay tithes to my church because I like what my church does and I want my church to continue doing it. My church helps a lot of people (and I don't mean with the electric bill, although we help people "in need" too.) I want my church to pay the electric bill and put gas in the church bus and all the stuff that keeps a church running so it can keep helping people.

Once upon a time a storm came through with a lot of strong straight-line wind. It knocked down a LOT of trees and big chunks of west and middle Tennessee were just a spaghetti bowl mess of power lines. After about half a week of no power in most of the area, our pastor's wife said she felt like we should go to a certain neighborhood and give some people a pizza and a coke. Not invite them to church or anything, just go door-to-door handing out a medium pizza and a two liter coke.

First door I knocked on with a pizza and a coke, a guy looked like in his 60s started crying because someone cared enough to bring them a pizza and a coke. It's not what we gave, it was just that we were telling people there was still someone who cared out there.

That was MY money helped pay for that.

Yeah I'll pay tithes. Not because someone proved I had to or proved I didn't have to. Because I want to be part of that.

Think it's fair enough to say there's very little the UK has been first in for some decades, sadly, these two *firsts* make me wish we stayed that way.

I seriously recommend browsing through the Daily Sceptic whether you're British or not. They largely focus on the UK angle but have many interesting, pertinent articles on Global events too. Also, their podcast episodes are well worth browsing through.

Bless you friend, i too was pretty surprised when i realised some here seemed short on Godly devotion let alone were true to its power.

Don't let it affect your walk with the Lord in any way, sadly, i'm sure some of them would love to make you doubt if possible. Also, when i thought about it, i realised it seems logical Satan would love to throw a spanner in the works of the great good sites like this offer.

This is a truly glorious, blessed day, a beautiful beacon in these dark, evil times. Think it's also the first time i really understand just how momentous an event it was, so posting a link to a hd version of The Gospel of John:

It's the Lumo Project version, not the Visual Bible one. I love the Visual Bible version too but like how this version uses an average looking guy to play Jesus, rather than a gorgeous looking guy like in so many productions. Have heard that Jesus appeared among us as a very ordinary looking dude, this version feels that bit more realistic to me, different strokes for different folks etc.
