You sure of that?

It sure makes things simple to think that.....
I know I have met the Lord personally....

To think that makes me think I am 100% right is to throw me into the sin of presumption.
I have met him as well seven times to be exact what was your experience meeting him?

Well the last time I met Jesus he was just smiling at me nothing more but you won't find that in his word so what do we make of such encounters if it isn't found in the scriptures?

I came face to face with a belief that wasn't substantiated by scripture
Agony in garden?

Luke 22 verse 42 “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours be done.” John 12 verses 27-28 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? No, it is for this purpose that I have come to this hour. Father, glorify Your name!” Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

John 18 verses 37b-38a “You say that I am a king,” Jesus answered. “For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice.” “What is truth?” Pilate asked.
I was pleased to be able to do a couple of "Easter"-themed panels last week...

This much I will say.....

When I prayed for salvation I had no idea anything was to change me.
I was brought up Jewish and had zero Christian doctrinal understanding.

While walking to class in college (this was during the Viet Nam era) a young man handed me a tract.
Not expecting anything to happen, I said the simple prayer, and then went to class.

That Thanksgiving night I was "flooded and overwhelmed" with a dream/vision.
One that showed me something in a very special had power. One that was communicating with me.

I was shown in the dream myself running into an emergency red cross shelter.
Then, later in that dream, seeing my life would become transformed with a gift.
One at that time I could not figure what to call it. Later, the Bible told me.

Need i say...After that dream. From then on, I was on a quest to find out what the mystery emergency shelter was.
I searched pretty much for ten years in various sects, etc....

Then?

My sister opened her house to a Bible study and she invited me to attend.
There I met one student from a Bible college who travelled hours to help with the study.
I mentioned to him the description of the emergency Red Cross shelter.
He told me it sounded like their main chapel..

Next thing I knew I was driving with some students to see the school... And, soon after, to attend for three years.
Did I mention? That when I had that dream/vision ten years earlier? The school was not there.

In the dream I heard the Lord's voice telling me about what I was to become.
At the time having the dream I did not know it was the Lord...
But, I knew something deeply supernatural was taking place.

Sorry.. I really do not want to go into anymore detail at this point.
Because, the other times He spoke to me it is too personal.

grace and peace ...............

Embrace your personal, subjective experience for yourself, but don't classify it as an objective truth claim or try to make a doctrine out of it.

Your personal, subjective experiences can equate with the revealed, objective truth claims of God's Word only to the extent that the former align perfectly with the latter.
You could have said....

Your personal experiences can only be valid as long as they are in agreement with the Word of God.

Instead?

You gave us what?

Your personal, subjective experiences can equate with the revealed, objective truth claims of God's Word only to the extent that the former align perfectly with the latter.

First of all. The way you worded it?
You are presuming they are subjective to begin with.

Presumption is a great sin.

"Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression."
(Psalm 19:13)

And what does the word tell us of divine encounters? how do we validate it?
God does not give them to everybody. The Bible mentions that relatively few have them at some time in their lives.

If it gets you deeper into study and gaining better understanding, then no one should be critical if they should be privy to what you experienced.

My experiences (not many) always ended up leading me to see the word from a new and valid angle.

All people are conceived in sin and are born children of wrath, unfit for any saving good, inclined to evil, dead in their sins, and slaves to sin;
You are wrong from the get-go. Children are not born children of wrath, unfit for any saving good, inclined to evil, dead in their sins and slaves to sin. Your question is based on false premises.
