Thank you for that correction @Snackersmom. Considering that there are so many look-a-likes with these particular characteristics including (I didn't look over all info the hippy offered since the site lagged so much on this low-capacity computer because of all extra the ads loading) wild garlic and my favorite licorice flavored sweet cicely.
No worries! Plant identification and classification were my main focuses in college. 🤓

Valerian root has medicinal properties and is often taken in small doses to improve sleep.

Elderberries are packed with cancer-fighting antioxidants and often taken to boost the immune system.

Giant Hogweed is a horrible plant with no redeeming qualities other than biological warfare and to teach us to respect the power of God's creation lol 😆.

But yes, many different plants have that characteristic cluster of little white flowers, and a lot of them are toxic in some capacity. Novices beware! 😲

It's good to know your background and expertise in plant identification! I've been commandeered to tend stock and tend to a few small greenhouses with edibles for use in our kitchen so, if you don't mind, I will be sure to check in with you to assure safety for public consumption. For example, I recently learned to not mistake the safety of wild violets for that case in African violets.

There are such things as flowers that smell like poop.

This is Valerian. They smell like sweaty socks.

In regard to them, the homesteadinghippy says,
"Also known as giant hogweed, this obnoxious and invasive plant has quickly become infamous because of its sheer toxicity
Hogweed is truly awful, releasing a phototoxic sap that will react with sunlight to cause severe skin irritation and blistering. It can even cause blindness!
Trust me, it’s as bad as it sounds but it also has several look-alikes that are just as dangerous – or even more so! A few imposters are innocent, but not many."

But there's a look-a-like, the Elderberry of which the hippy says,

"And while hogweed is very dangerous to touch, Elderberry is not, outside of a potential risk for mild topical irritation.
Also, I am happy to report those appealing berries are safe to eat when cooked and are often used in pies, jams, wines, and syrups.
Again, it’s essential to note that only the ripe, cooked berries are safe to consume:..."

I do wonder if these are otherwise called 'dingleberries.'

your response is quite off the mark. what are you saying?

Yup that's true, African violets are not in the same plant family as true violets. Better substitutes are pansies and violas, which are cousins to the violet and completely edible. 🤓👍

Greenhouse management is a tough job! 😵 I'm happy to provide advice but without being there for a hands-on I.D. I could only provide background info. So you could research further. Let me know if I can help though! 😊

I also am curious about that, and am eagerly waiting for the answer.

But somebody called me famous in this thread, so replies out of left field seem to be the norm here.

Violas are edible? I tried eating one, but it tasted a bit woody. I wound up just picking my teeth with it. Don't get me started on how hard the strings were to chew...

Good illustration of how dangerous it is to determine edibility of a plant without and iron-clad identification!

Apples are delicious.

May-apples are toxic.

Thorn-apples will send you into a 2-week psychotic episode wherein you will be shocked by tales of your outrageous behavior once you come back to your senses. If you survive, that is....

It may.

lot's of you here on CC know of my highly abusive parents. if you had them as parents & could change them, you would too!
I think we all have regrets of what could have been if things were different. I came to the conclusion during the covid if I had it my way I would have never suffered. Well that certainly not what God wanted and the people we are all today is because of those experiences.

It was a continuation of my thoughts from post #3. My personality profile says that very rarely does anybody ever get me but, apparently, that hasn't stopped me.

would you doit all again like thomas in the circle or just stay how you are now? or would you change something? and what? was your life worth living, heartbreaks llosses and all? or would you change something? if not what could happen to change your mind?

is there anythi g that could happen that would make your life no longer worth living?

There are plenty of regrets, but you want to learn from them and move forward with the Lord's help.
After a person>Gets saved< there are many changes to make. Salvation is a gift that is given once and for all. Walking with the Lord is over the lifetime. We often fail. A proverb says that that a righteous man (saved) falls seven times and gets back up again.

Life is always worth living.
Are you having doubts?

*Obligatory disclaimer* I am not single.

I was drawn here by the John Denver avatar.... some might say- lured.

-but having arrived after such a strong beckoning, you mentioned Thomas and the Circle. A wonderful series. Reading it was reading my own story. That's how good it was.

Did you read the Paradise trilogy along with the Circle Series? It's like a house of mirrors.
