There were believers before the giving of the Old Covenant to Moses. Believers in OT times were saved in the same manner believers in our day and time are saved ... by grace through faith.

The Old Covenant was never intended to "save" anyone. The purpose of the Old Covenant was to bring folks to Christ ... Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith – Galatians 3:24. Salvation has always been by grace through faith.

Job said ... For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me – Job 19:25-27.

David said ... As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness – Psalm 17:15.

The sons of Korah said ... But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me – Psalm 49:15.

You do not believe that Job, David, the sons of Korah knew they had salvation from God? While they looked forward to God's promise ... the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world and we look back to the crucifixion/resurrection ... we are still just as they were ... looking forward to the coming day when we all shall see "face to face" and not "through a glass darkly" ... we shall "awake, with thy likeness".

May I suggest?
Give up on this guy.

It's something personal with him.
He is on a vendetta walk against the Word of God.

Only he knows why.
Probably thinks God short-changed him in this life.

You got to face the facts with these guys.
There is something deep inside that hates seeing Christians happy with what God has dealt them.

That last part (condition) does not appear in the earliest manuscripts, but had been added on at a later date.
Many translations avoid that mistake.

So? As a believer?
If you walk according to the flesh?
You are going to Hell?

There is still no condemnation, even if it were so!

if you die unrepentant? yes

I don't possess the earliest manuscripts

besides this you can also find in many other passages

example gal 5:13-25

13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

vs 21 SHALL NOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!!

Grace questions

#1

Jn 15:1-6

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

a) If we were in Christ and are cast in the fire did we lose the grace of God or salvation?

b) How do we abide in Christ?

Jn 15:10
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 Jn 5:3
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

#2

Jn 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

a) do we have eternal salvation and eternal salvation more abundantly?

b) or grace, and grace more abundantly?

#3

Mt 7:14
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

do we have eternal salvation to be on the narrow road that leads to eternal salvation?

#4

Mk 10:30
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Why are we promised eternal salvation if we possess eternal salvation?

#5

Matthew 25:46
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Romans 2:7
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

1 Thessalonians 5:8
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

titus 1:2
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

a) Why have hope of eternal salvation if we possess eternal salvation?

b) does eternal security oppose
the virture of Hope and the holy Spirit of promise?

God is eternal life. Not every saved person will be sharing with God His own life in varying degrees.

All saved people have everlasting life
Everlasting life is not the same as eternal life.
"And THIS IS LIFE ETERNAL, that they may KNOW THEE the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou has sent." John 17:3. Eternal life is having an intimate knowledge (through relationship) of God and Jesus Christ His Son, for " I am the Way, the Truth and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." John 14:6. Incidentally, everlasting life and eternal life mean exactly the same thing. Look it up yourself, Greek 165-166, Strong's.

John 14:6. Incidentally, everlasting life and eternal life mean exactly the same thing. Look it up yourself, Greek 165-166, Strong's.
Yet, God alone has had no beginning and no end.
We, all have had a beginning.

Everlasting life had a beginning and will never end.
All believers have everlasting life.

Eternal life has no beginning and never ends.
God alone is eternal life.

Eternal refers to something that has no beginning and no end, while everlasting describes something that has a beginning but lasts forever. Essentially, eternal is about timelessness, whereas everlasting indicates a duration that starts at a specific point and continues indefinitely.

Eternal Life: Often defined in John 17:3 as knowing God and Jesus Christ, emphasizing a personal relationship.
Everlasting Life: Also mentioned in John 3:16, indicating a life that begins with faith in Jesus and continues forever in heaven.

They all believed in the PROMISE of salvation before the cross, while we have been given a "down payment" of salvation by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, after the cross. The major point , IMHO, being overlooked here is the shed blood of Jesus, sprinkled on the mercy seat to pay for ALL sins before and after the cross, without which we are all men(and women) most miserable and without hope in this world.

Sooo, God doesn't have everlasting life? I have " life eternal, or eternal life" according to the Greek definition of eternal from John 17:2-3 " As Thou have given Him power over all flesh, that He should GIVE ETERNAL LIFE to as many as Thou have given Him." I have been given to Him, how about you? As I said, they mean the same, according to the BIBLE and concordances.

Would you please explain what that means?
And, what did they have before?
Faith in the promise. When Jesus came and preached to them there was no further need of faith because Faith showed up, then they received " the end of their faith, the salvation of their souls".

God exceeds everlasting life.
For everlasting life had a beginning.

God had no beginning.
God is situated outside of time.

We need to better understand this truth.
Many never give it a thought.
