I watched a lot of the carol Burnett reruns growing up and the parody always made me
I know you said Windies only, so forgive me for replying to this thread as someone who is not a Windy. I have seen the movie twice. Once when I was young at my own choosing and I wasn't keen on it. I watched it again as an adult with someone who wanted to watch it, again I wasn't keen on it. It's just not my genre. I prefer action/butt kicking and gun play.
Anyway, the reason I'm replying is because I've visited Margaret Mitchell's grave in Atlanta. I've also visited the Road to Tara museum in Jonesboro, GA. I'll include a pic of me next to a dress at the Road to Tara museum. I have a pic of me and Margaret's grave somewhere, but one pic of me is enough.

There were definitely guns, kicking AND slapping in GWTW.

Oh and she slapped about 4 different people in the movie.

I've always wanted to go on the road to Tara, but we didn't get very far on our. CC roadtrip. Everyone was too busy partying on the bus.

They do not make them like this anymore. The women wore...stays/corsets, pantalets, hoop skirts, bustles, snoods, shirtwaists, flared skirts and sleeves, mourning dresses, brooches, earbobs, shawls, red silk petticoats, chemises, puffed sleeves, bonnets with feathers, muffs, gloves, scarves, wraps, hankerchiefs, booties, nightgowns, aprons, ball gowns, ribbons, ruffles, pintucks, smocking, lace trim, rick rack, sequins, dresses made out of velvet curtains with tassels...it is a visual feast.

Vivien Leigh complained in the kissing scenes that Clark Gable had bad breath. Apparently he had false teeth. Most movie stars do.
He also had sticky-out ears but he was so handsome.
Apparently Vivien Leigh didn't have enough cleavage for the infamous red dress, so one of the directors suggested she might need some padding. What God had forgotten, we stuffed with cotton.
