Did Paul spiritualize scripture ? cont

We have seen that Paul spiritualized the OT in 1 !or 10, and we will look at another passage in Galatians where he does it again Gal 4:21-31

21Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?

22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.

23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

25For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

26But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

27For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

28Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

29But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.

30Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.

31So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Notice vs 24, which things [ OT History] an allegory ! The word is the greek word allēgoreō:

) to speak allegorically or in a figure

Remember when Paul wrote that Adam was a figure of Him to come, Christ Rom 5:14

Vines Dictionary states about the word allegory:

translated in Gal 4:24 "contain an allegory" (AV, "are an allegory"), formed from allos, "other," and agoreuo, "to speak in a place of assembly" (agora, "the market-place"), came to signify "to speak," not according to the primary sense of the word, but so that the facts stated are applied to illustrate principles. The "allegorical" meaning does not do away with the literal meaning of the narrative. There may be more than one "allegorical" meaning though, of course, only one literal meaning. Scripture histories represent or embody spiritual principles, and these are ascertained, not by the play of the imagination, but by the rightful application of the doctrines of Scripture.

Paul in this passage again spiritualized this history in the OT. Where can we read in genesis that Hagar is a Covenant or Mt Sinai ? What about Sarah being the New Covenant and is Mt Zion ? The fact is, it doesn't, but the inspired Apostle clearly tells us these things are true. Now the Church is built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets with Christ being the Chief cornerstone.. Eph 2:20

20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

BTW this scripture proves the Oneness of the Church and Christ was and is the Head of the OT Prophets as He is the Head of the Apostles..for He is the Chief cornerstone..

And this being the case, we should give heed to this type of interpretation by the Apostle who was made so by the Sovereign Will of God as per 2 Tim 1:1

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

Whats being seen here is that many of the OT events had a double meaning, the obvious literal and the higher, hidden, and spiritual meaning..

The Spiritual meaning however can only be given by the Holy Ghost of God 1 Cor 2:12-14

12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

A casual reading of the Literal history of the OT cannot reveal its higher and spiritual intent by God.

If we are not able to spiritualize the old Testament in the same way that Paul does, we have created a carnal religion.
it is no longer the "gospel of peace", but religious extremism in the name of Jesus.

In the allegory of Galatians 21-31 Paul teaches us about earthly Jerusalem, even as it was in Paul's time.
By comparing Jerusalem to Abraham's effort to fulfill Gods promise, ie having a son by Hagar, he is showing us that since the resurrection of Jesus, Jerusalem is an idol and operating on the will of man.

By comparing earthly Jerusalem to Mt. Sinai, Paul teaches us that it belongs to the old covenant and "he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away." Hebrews 8:13.
By this we learn that earthly Jerusalem is not a Christian cause.
Those who have the Gospel of Jesus also have a message of freedom from the bondage of earthly Jerusalem.
We neither need to destroy nor serve Jerusalem, but we do need to persuade others of the freedom offered to them by Christ.

She already knows that we believe that the church is the fulfillment of the covenants.

One people, ekklesia in both the old and new testament, not by blood, by faith.
But people like to make accusations about "replacement" because it is easy and makes it seem that the person has committed some huge crime.

Indeed. They are elevating ethnicity, geographic land.... which Jesus never told us to do.

Did Bible tell us to worship certain ethnic group? Certain land?

Agreed, when one is really in line with the revelation of Christ Jesus as provided in scripture from cover to cover the more one comes to understand the ridiculousness of dispensationalism.

False teachers were allowed to enter the fold a hundred years ago and now we will soon pay a price.
May God protect those who have been truly faithful to His Word not a political agenda. 🙏

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
2 Cor. 1:20

Ironically, one can make a pretty solid argument that the unrighteous elevation of natural Israel to irreproachable status has caused the death of 10’s of thousands of Jews.

It seems to me that you are not seeing a connection between the Abrahamic covenant and salvation?
We should probably clear that one up first.
If that covenant has nothing to do with salvation, it also has nothing to do with Jesus.
I will show you that this is fortunately not the case.
Hebrews 2:16 "For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham."
What could it be talking about?

Unfortunately I have to take you into the most misunderstood chapter of the Old Testament to find out.
Genesis 12:3 "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee"
Notice first that "thee" in this passage is one man, Abram.
Nowhere in the passage does God apply it to all that carry his DNA, as God Himself cursed the children of Israel many times.
" and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
So that part must be about earthly Israel?
Sounds like Genesis 22:18
"And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed"
If you wish not to attribute this to Jesus or to Salvation you will have to interpret it independently from the New Testament, but hopefully you are not the type that would ignore the NT.
Here is the explanation:

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

Galatians 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
It is true, and you are correct, that one of the promises within the Abrahamic covenant relates to salvation through Jesus, the promised Seed. Thank you for highlighting that. But even this promise to Jacob’s descendants is not conditional. The Jewish people do not have to meet any requirement before God for the promise of the Messiah’s lineage to remain secure.

The Abrahamic covenant contains multiple promises, and the land promise is treated the same way. It stands on the same unconditional foundation as the promise of the Seed. okay?

I thought that means disappointment. Haha 😄

Definitely not angry towards the comments. I agree with he is here and Aaron.

Lol, sometimes I look up the definitions of emoji just to be sure.

I think my point was that the facts cannot always be exposed since many cannot handle it. At this point in time, with everything that has happened, anyone still under delusion, is probably not going to budge, but I could be wrong.🙏

"The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

Salvation carries the condition of faith.
It is the same for all.

O T History had a Two Fold meaning !

From our previous witness we showed how the inspired Paul spiritualized OT History in divulging that God had more than one meaning. For it is hard to miss this pattern, for there was an obvious literal, natural meaning.

This is premised on a biblical order that God has established and maintained throughout world history, that is the natural first, then the spiritual 1 Cor 15:46

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

And no, it does not revert back to natural as some erroneously teach.

So, God's People Israel takes on two forms, first Natural Israel and afterward Spiritual Israel.

Natural Israel was the Church in the wilderness Acts 7:38

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

And we have the Spiritual Church Israel in the wilderness Rev 12:13-14

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

The women here is the Church, the remnant of the seed of the women which was Christ..

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church Eph 5:23

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the Saviour of the body.

Col 1:24

Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:

And so this method as per 1 Cor 15:45 The natural then the spiritual is how Paul understands the OT scripture, this cannot be denied.

Paul speaks of the First and Natural Adam and the second and Spiritual Adam 1 Cor 15:45,47or who we know is the Lord Jesus Christ.

So the First Adam a very real and natural person whose life is recorded in the OT scripture, is a representative of a Truth greater than he, there was something about him more deeper and spiritual, this is again alluded to by Paul here Eph 5:31-32

31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Again Paul points this out in Rom 5:14

14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

However, by mere casual reading of the scripture, these deeper sublime truths would have not been revealed, but God raised up Paul for that purpose, and of course the Holy Spirit teaches these things through Him.

I am here to tell you today, the natural Israel was merely a type a figure, the natural of the Spiritual Israel, the Church, God's Heavenly People. 5

The OT doesn't have more than one meaning.

Yes. If it had more than one meaning, understanding it would be impossible.
So, when Paul said that "Abraham's descendants" really meant "Abraham's singular Seed which was Christ" you understand Paul's definition to be the true one, correct?
