Well, yeah. But I don't get baptized to get a job, either. Guess I should never bother looking for a job, then!
Go blame AI and corporate greed for that if you can't find a job.
But how did those married people get married in the first place? Didn't they make a mistake? Because they should have stayed single instead?
Ask themselves, Christ died for their eternal life, not their love life. The only mistake is coming to church and getting baptized for matchmaking service.
But you keep saying that all Christians who are currently single should stay single, aren't you?
"All Christians who are currently single" are not "ALL" Christians. I simply concur Paul's opinion, that marriage is unwise in the wake of the present distress. You're free to suffer your "trouble in the flesh" as you wish.

After 32 pages, I understand where some coming from 😄 🤣 😂
Rejoice in the Lord, rejoice!

Haha well out of fairness to Lovette, English is not his native tongue. He insists that does not affect his comprehension though.

Also, from what he has posted in other threads, he responds to us the same way his mother responds to him, which is sad. His mother is not a believer so he shouldn't be modeling her behavior but here we are.....

Honestly, the way he ridicules and accuses the brethren, even admits to outright making things up as a so-called "tactic"..... is very much the way Satan treats Christians. I'm legit wondering if Lovette might have some demonic activity going on, and I don't say that lightly 😕.

I was making an an analogy

So they're not necessarily making a mistake by getting married? And how many people do you know who come to church for "matchmaking"?

Oh. So people can get married, then.

Most of it is argument for argument sake.

negative, negative, negative towards other Christians.

With this negative attitude, yeah, sure please stay single, very wise choice.

I was replying to that analogy

As many as the followers of such charlatans who preach that marriage is their sacred duty and shame singles. They are necessarily making a mistake by getting married for the status of "getting married”, as though that makes them superior than singles.
Oh. So people can get married, then.
1 Cor. 6:12, then.

How many preachers do you know who teach that sort of thing? I know precisely zero, nor do I follow any. Maybe you've been shamed by other people who try to persuade you to marry. I'm single, too, but I've never encountered any Christians who try to shame me for being single or tell me that marriage is my "sacred duty."

That's just me, though.

They are necessarily making a mistake by getting married for the status of "getting married”, as though that makes them superior than singles.

When you see Christians get married, how do you know that they're getting married merely for the sake of changing their marital status? And how do you know that their marital state makes them feel "superior" to singles? Are you a mind reader?

1 Cor. 6:12, then.

This seems to be phrase that Paul used when he teaches on "Christian liberty." (like Colossians 2:16-17) The Christians in Corinth were taking the idea that "all things are lawful" and applying it to areas that Paul (or God) never intended. They were using their "liberty" as a license to sin. From 1 Corinthians 6:15, it seems like some Corinthian Christians though they had the "liberty" to use the services of prostitutes (something that was normal in Corinth, and in Corinthian cults)

Is it a sin for Christians to get married? Um, no. Is getting married akin to prostitution? No.

They don't have to preach it out loud. If they brag of their seemingly perfect happy family, promote marriage as a foretaste of heaven, and marginalize singles by addressing only to the married, then you know what they're getting at.

How do I know they're not? Peer pressure and parental pressure are common.

That depends on whom you marry. Some women see marriage as long term prostitution. If the marriage is transactional in nature, then it's as good as prostitution.

Look, I've actually heard pastors teach things along all of these lines, too. And, yes, as a single person, it can rub you the wrong way sometimes. What do you expect, though? Pastors are, in my experience, always married, and married young. They have no idea what it's like to be an adult single person. Then, again, you and I are both adult singles. We don't entirely understand what it's like to be an adult married person, do we?

No pastor has ever told me that getting married is a "sacred duty." Nor have they ever shamed congregants for being single. Nor have I read that sort of subliminal messaging into any of their sermons. Neither Jesus nor Paul ever taught that marriage is a sacred duty. So when a pastor teaches about what Jesus and Paul say about marriage and singleness, well, that idea doesn't come up, in my experience.

But that's just me. Maybe you have experienced that sort of thing in sermons. I don't doubt that this can be the case sometimes.

How do I know they're not? Peer pressure and parental pressure are common.

OK. So it's a possibility that people get married for those reasons, and that they feel that way about themselves. That still just sounds rather speculative.

That depends on whom you marry. Some women see marriage as long term prostitution.

Huh? How do you know that?

If the marriage is transactional in nature, then it's as good as prostitution.

And you're convinced that all, or most, or many Christian marriages are "transactional in nature"? How would you know any of that stuff? That sounds rather judgmental.

There are many life long Christian marriages around my circle. They serve at church, they raise kids, they argue, they make up, just normal life. Not on pedestal, not perfect, not bad, they are content in life.

From society point of view, they are sturdy family 👪 units and give very positive impact to generation after generation.

Many good Christian singles in my circle too, they serve faithfully in church, family, community, helping out with their talent and time, very positive. They never dispise marriage, nor the pursue of marriage.

Rejoice in the Lord. Praise to God we brothers and sisters serving, worshipping Lord together.

Maybe pastors don't, but many so called "Christian influencers" do, out of demographic and political concerns, not theological reasoning.

OK, I speculate then that those reasons are common reasons, not just a remote possibility.

From my own dear relatives.

Yes, there's no married or single, all are one in Christ.

Speculate? OK.

Their own words.

The words of certain "influencers," right?

From my own dear relatives.

Your relatives are not the only people, or the only married couples, or the only Christian married couples, living on this planet.

Go in peace, sister. You don't know what you're talknig about. You who cyberstalk a random account on a forum is the one who has a problem. If ridiculing idolatry of marriage and promoting contentment in singlehood is "demonic", then so be it.

This is a thread you did not create, on a message board you do not moderate. You do not get to control what anyone posts here other than yourself. Does free speech only apply when you agree with what is being said? 🤔

Regarding the "cyberstalking" 🙄, I am just going off of what you have posted openly in other threads. I remember those things because I actually care about you, believe it or not. You have very obvious unresolved trauma. I don't think you realize how much it is still affecting you. Jesus can heal you but first you will have to be honest with Him and with yourself.

I truly wish you all the best. Since you feel there are many topics you are not argumentative about, what if you started a conversation about one of them? No arguing, no debating..... just a conversation. Dare ya to try it, who knows you might even like it! 😉

So... Like... Do you even look at the user name before you fire off a reply?

Or do you have some kind of memory problem, and you can't remember anything about the user?

Because you keep getting the wrong user characteristics matched with people.

Or do you just make up stuff about people in your head, on-the-fly?

And why do give so much weight to the opinions of influencers, or follow their "teachings" so closely?
Because they have good opinions on many other things, weighty matters like exposure of demonic activities and discernment of the times, which most pastors don't bother to mention. But unfortunately, not on this one.
The words of certain "influencers," right?
Your guess, no comment.
Your relatives are not the only people, or the only married couples, or the only Christian married couples, living on this planet.
Then may God bless them, I won't follow my relative's footsteps, God's never granted me a chance to anyway.

If Christian "influencers" are teaching you that marriage is some sort of "sacred duty," or shame people for getting married, them, yeah, I wouldn't pay them any attention either. I don't believe any of those things.

Is it also your guess that some women see marriage as "long-term prostitution"? The heck does that mean?

Then may God bless them, I won't follow my relative's footsteps, God's never granted me a chance to anyway.

You mean your relatives have all had unhappy mariages?

To be honest, time has healed all wounds, as love keeps no record of wrongs, right? My traumas are already resolved, I don't even remember any of them, and I don't intend to unwittingly get myself in new ones. I'm argumentative on this particular topic because it is in my conviction that marriage, as an abstract concept, has been worshipped as an idol, as the world, especially America, has been given the impression that Christianity is all about happy marriage and large families, even though nothing feels more worldly than these, just because you romantize them by sticking a Christian label on them doesn't make them Christian. You gotta seriously ask yourself, what is your telos? Pursuing and serving your prince Charming or princess buttercup who only exists in your vain imagination, or pursuing and serving Lord Jesus who bled and died for you?

Go ask chatgpt. Playing dumb doesn't suit you.
You mean your relatives have all had unhappy mariages?
"All happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."

It's so "obvious" that women see marriage as "long-term prostitution" that ChatGPT could easily explain it to me? And how many women do you know who have expressed that opinion to you? Or it just speculation on your part?

"All happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."

Great. More adages, instead of actual data. You seem to like these a lot.
