It is called self righteousness, assume other people all bad.

Except Paul also says in this chapter that singleness isn't for everyone. And that it's, in Paul's words, "better" for those people to marry.1 Cor. 7:2 is for married couples only, "let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.“ The implication is not for singles to get married, but for husbands and wives to NOT committing adultery outside of wedlock.
Did he equate sex with bread, or libido with appetite, or used another person's body to fulfil his own desires?
Just because something's common doesn't mean it's normal. It might be normal for you, born and raised in a post sexual liberation culture, but not for me, born and raised in a culture that had never experienced sexual liberation.
So....um.... you're saying that, because somebody raped somebody, no Christian should ever date or get married? Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her. His soul was strongly attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to the young woman. So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, “Get me this young woman as a wife.”.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. "
"Nevertheless such will have trouble in the flesh, but I would spare you
Yes, it's not for those who're already married, divorce is forbidden, even for those who're married with unbelievers.Except Paul also says in this chapter that singleness isn't for everyone. And that it's, in Paul's words, "better" for those people to marry.
Yeah, "ideally", enjoy your fantasy land.Hahaha! This honestly cracked me up! Thanks, Lovette!
No, Jesus never got married, or had sex, because that would have been utterly pointless for Him. Jesus is God who lives on Heaven. I'm not. I'm just a human.
Also, when a married couple has sex, they're, ideally, fulfilling both of their desires. Not merely one person's desire.
What's not normal is repeatedly and habitually thrumming your nose in a married couple's bedroom to meddle with their intimate, private matter, just using that to make a petty argument. So, uh, a married couple having sex is not "normal"? It's just a weird perversion? Was marriage, and the concept of married sex, and the desires for marriage and sex, invented by "post-sexual liberation culture"?
No, it shows your lack of blessed assurance, when you're already complete in Christ, you're still looking for a husband or wife to complete you.So....um.... you're saying that, because somebody raped somebody, no Christian should ever date or get married?
Are you saying that, if you date or get married, you're no better than a rapist?
Huh?!
You ever heard the term "extreme
example"?
Or this is not all YOU have to squawk on this subject.Wait, getting married is lawful? Well, gee, look at that.
And, again, this is not all Paul has to say on this subject.
Yes, it's not for those who're already married, divorce is forbidden, even for those who're married with unbelievers.

Permission is not endorsement. But Paul still allows marriage.
Why are you so convinced they all the Christian marriages are so happily ever after, even though it was explicitly taught by the Lord, that in resurrection when there's no more sin and everyone's truly happily ever after, there's no marriage or giving in to marriage? Why are you so convinced they all the Christian marriages around you are so bad and unhealthy? Yikes.
Because you you repeatedly suggest that a "healthy and loving sex life" is the raison d'être for marriage, get married and you'll be rewarded with a "healthy and loving sex life".But you repeatedly say that it's impossible for a Christian married couple to have a healthy and loving sex life? How do you know this?
How do you know Christian married couples are having healthy and loving sex life? Are you watching them in the sheets with a spy camera? So anyone who desires marriage is guilty of looking to marriage to "complete" them? How do you know that? Are you a mind reader?
How Utterly Horrendous!Huh?
Permission is not endorsement.

I don't, the "present distress" does, the current social system is family UNfriendly by putting extra burdens.Maybe Paul should have forbidden it, if it's as terrible as you make it out to be.![]()
No, but resurrection is a thing of the Lord, if not THE thing of the Lord, in contrast to things of the world.I never said marriage was "happily ever after." And we're not in the Resurrection right now, are we?
Then why getting married? For what? Money? Status? Security?I never said anyone should get married just for that reason. Nor did I ever say that marriage will guarantee you such a thing.
Because that's what every source of sexual knowledge, especially the church, has taught me. Look no further than dear @Snackersmom, who was so appalled and outraged at this discussion on sex for being "inappropriate." Well, gee, how did sex end up as the essence of profanity in every language? How old are you do I need to remind you that cussing words are dirty and evil and unnatural?Uh, you're the one who has repeatedly suggested that married sex is somehow dirty or evil or unnatural or something that a woman can't possibly enjoy. How do you know this? Are you watching them in the sheets with a spy camera?
Also, are you unaware of the fact that many married couples have kids? Well, gee, how did they get those kids, I wonder?![]()
Marriage is not your telos. A husband, no matter how godly he may be, is not your savior. Feel free to desire marriage as much as you want, sister, but beware, that when no matter how eagerly you desire, how passionately you pursue, how intensely you yearn, there's no Prince Charming charging in on white horse, there's no marriage for you in the end, what then? Are you gonna pity yourself and resent the Lord? Or are you gonna take that as a test of your faith and appreciate the salvation you've already had?Matthew 19: 10-12
Matthew 19: 4-5
God gives gifts of marriage to most people. For a small amount, God gives gifts of singlehood.
It is totally fine to desire marriage. Because God create this desire in most of us.
I don't, the "present distress" does, the current social system is family unfriendly by putting extra burdens.

Your choice, boss. Don't ask me. I've got my job to do tomorrow.OK, but we're not in the Resurrection right now. We also don't know when this world will end. Should we put our whole life on hold because the world might end tomorrow?
What's the revelance of any of these? I asked WHY are you getting married? For what? God didn't make an Eve for every Adam.Look, I get that you, personally have no desire for marriage, or romance, or sex. That's fine. Some people are just like that I also get that you think every human being on Earth should be exactly like you. So I kind of doubt that you'll be able to understand or empathize with this.
However, some of people do desire these things. Paul concedes that in 1 Corinthians 7. Jesus concedes it in Matthew 19. So why can't you?
Hebrews 13:4 says marriage should be honored. In the Garden of Eden, God joined Adam and Eve, and it was supposed to be for life. When Jesus teaches about divorce, he says that God joins man and wife together. Together, in a lifelong covenant, a married couple reflects a picture of God’s own character and fellowship.
Note that, at the beginning, God intentionally provided a woman who would be different from Adam but also well-suited to him. When God made Eve, Adam was no longer alone. And Adam could now work with Eve to fulfill God’s purposes and design for marriage. God said that it "wasn't good" for man to be alone, even when the world was perfect.
And, of course, God also created the male and female bodies to complement each other in such a way that they can physically become “one flesh” in marriage. (Yes, Lovette, I'm talking about the so-called "peeing organs" you mentioned) See Hebrews 13:4. This is also how humans reproduce children, something that God wanted humans to do in the Garden of Eden.
And, throughout the Bible, we see God use marriage as a metaphor for His relationship with His people, both Israel and the Church.
Don't worry, Lovette. Good news! You don't have to get married if you don't want to. That's fine, too. Nothing wrong with that.
So marriage is indeed the license for sex, despite your constant denial. Good to know.Sex is for marriage. The Bible nowhere condemns sex between a husband and his wife. Everywhere sex outside of marriage is mentioned, the Bible condemns it. See Genesis 2:24.
See also 1 Corinthians 7:2 reads: "But because of the temptation to sexual immorality (porneia), each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband." Here Paul presents a problem ("the temptation to sexual immorality") and a solution ("each man having his own wife and each women her own husband.") If marriage is the solution, the problem (logically) has to be extramarital.
And Hebrews 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Here, we see adultery and fornication contrasted with what happens in the marriage bed. Marriage (and sexual intercourse within marriage) is "honorable." All other types of sexual activity are condemned as immoral.
If two people have sex, well, it's always possible that they're going to conceive and have a child. Is it the "loving" thing to do to bring a child into the world without a stable family to support it? And all the things that a healthy marriage will need, like stable careers, a place to live, etc., etc.?
And if people had less premarital sex, well, there would probably be a lot less STDs, abortions, unwed mothers, unwanted pregnancies, and children growing up in broken families (like a single-parent household, for instance)
If you have personal interest in romance/marriage/sex, that's fine. Paul, apparently, had no interest in these things, either. But Paul also conceded that not everyone is like him, and did not require that everyone be single like him.
Paul wants his congregation to be more mindful of godly things and less concerned of worldly things like marriage. So why are you still so obsessed with it? Why can't you be more like Paul? Why can't you be more like Paul?![]()

No, I was asking you the reason for you, for anybody to get married, if not for pressures from peers or parents. How about addressing that? It's the most consequential decision in your lifetime, right? You seemed to be saying that marriage was worthless, or pointless, or useless. I was addressing that.
Still speaking on behalf of "all", aren't you.Denial of what? And what kind of sex? Are all forms of sex bad?
Either way, I'm more concerned with the wellbeing of my soul, in this crazy era that incredibly resembles the 1930s."Less concerned"? Or "completely unconcerned"?
But it's just his personal opinion, right?Paul himself conceded that not everyone is like him. And that you're not required to stay single like he was.

But not all who have such desires are qualified, for those adults who still act like kids and take money from parents. What you want is one thing, whether you can actually handle it is quite another. Some people want to get married, believe it or not. Some people want to experience romantic love. Yes, your friends and family love you. But they don't love you that way. And some people want to have children and build families. These desires are not bad.
Then I was throwing your question back at you when you mockingly supposed "all" must be like this or "all" must be like that.Um, no, I was asking you a question.
Then follow his instruction, be more mindful of godly things and less concerned of worldly things like marriage. No, those statements do not fall under the grammatical definition of an "opinion."

You don't, as long as you still speak on behalf of "all" and use that as a strawman tactic. Not all? I agree! But you seem to think that nobody should bother getting married.
I seem to think married stay married, singles stay single.Aren't you the one saying that nobody should bother with marriage?
Did Paul "instruct" any of his readers to be more mindful of godly things and less concerned of worldly things? And those who were married should live as though they weren't? Yes, 1 Cor. 7:29Did Paul "instruct" any of his readers to avoid marriage entirely? No. See 1 Corinthians 7:6.
