I generally agree but have seen it happen often enough that it's hard to completely give up. Plus, some people want help but are too proud or traumatized to admit it.

But yes, our friend does give many indications of being a hopeless case. 😔
Well that's great if you have the inclination to do that. I don't have the time or the energy. When I was younger I did it a lot and always believed that if I tried hard enough, the person would come around. Now I barely have the energy to get through the day and my free time is precious to me.

Also keep in mind that some people just can't be helped either because of psychological issues or deep trauma or just low IQ. Some people need professional help, but in all cases, they have to WANT help first.

"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."
Matthew 7:6 NIV

Good luck you guys, with your search of salvation and contentment in husband (or wife) hunting.

I have heard it phrased "Don't accept criticism from anyone you wouldn't go to for advice"

Oddly enough, I heard that from a person I wouldn't typically go to for advice, and it helped me reject some unfounded criticism they had previously given me. Wrap your brain around THAT! 🤯
Does that fall under the "out of the mouths of babes" clause?

Wisdom may come from anywhere. I once w*rked with a guy who argued so much about everything that I finally stopped talking to him altogether, because every conversation would be an argument. But he DID have a good idea about when a grill scraper blade gets dull, flip it around and use the other side... Which had never occurred to me! The dude is long gone but I still flip those blades.

I thought I was the one giving advice against dating - in the age of #MeToo, AI, dating apps, horrible economy, and unparalleled hostility between men and women. We're living in perilous time, the fun was over.

But hey, a mind can make a hell out of heaven and a heaven out of a hell, so who am I to tell you what to do? Who was Paul to tell you what to do? If it is your firm conviction that it's still a good idea to throw caution to the wind and go fooling around in the midst of Great Deprssion and Weimar Republic combined, go ahead, no one's stopping you.

I would ask what in the world you are talking about, but I have learned better.

Oh no worries, I know that I can't change anyone, really it's between the person and God. I just find this stuff fascinating from a psychological/spiritual standpoint. 🤓

And maybe it's my youth ministry background, but I don't find stubborn buttheads particularly draining as long as they can handle some playful poking. He does seem slightly improved over his last account so who knows, maybe he's learning more than he's letting on. 🧐

Maybe so.... I try to remember that wisdom can come from anywhere and even my worst enemy could have some valid points. But overall I think "Would you go to this oerson for advice?" is a good metric to consider.

The girl I heard it from was a college student who thought herself an authority on pretty much everything, but even a stopped clock is right twice a day I suppose. 🤓

I get it, too. Though he did say that the only woman he really knows is his mother.

So I don't get how he would know that most or all women are like that.

Who knows?
By fellowship with believers on regular basis, in person, it helps us to develop friendship with many, men and women.
What a blessing!!!
We study together, eat together, serve together, laugh together...

He seems to get most (if not all) of his perspective from internet rage-bait, which explains the bizarre mix or feminism and misogyny. He regurgitates talking points from both mgtow and #metoo, whichever stance is most contrary at the given time. He doesn't seem to understand that neither perspective should apply to interactions between serious believers.

He really needs to get out and experience some actual fellowship, maybe then he would calm down a little.

I am very thankful for many in person activities 🙏
Church in person, Bible study in person, swimming 🏊‍♂️ in person, tennis in person, office in person, gym in person....

Thank God !!!

It's strange. On the one hand, he seems to view himself as the gallant protector of women from the unwelcome advances of all the evil, lustful men.

At the same time, he admits that the only woman he actually knows for real is his mother. And that marriage is the same thing as prostitution or whatever.

Who knows? I guess it depends on the day of the week. 😂

Based off my field notes, he just argues whichever point is most contrary to what the other person is saying. He contradicts himself from post to post depending on how his "opponent" responds.

Language barrier or learning disability may be involved as well but he acknowledges neither.

Oh, interesting. I didn't really consider that, or even notice it, really. But that's why some people love the Internet, I'm sure. Isn't it great?

Thank you, God, for inventing the Internet.

Then I'm afraid you don't know me at all, even after more than a month's interaction. Desire for dating with another person to complete your life is innately a sign of discontentment with Jesus. If you're truly content with the Lord, it is in your conviction that Lord Jesus is enough, you're more than conquerers, than you wouldn't need validation from somebody else. You date because you're insecure, out of a scarcity mentality, you're concerned about loneliness, peer pressure, who's gonna care for you when you're old, blah blah blah, deep down you don't trust God with your future, you have to find a mate to fix your sin of "singleness". If that's you, friend, go ahead. I'm not here to argue, I just wanna tell you that Lord Jesus has liberated me from all these desires you've been repeatedly trying to convince me as "OK". May God bless you, friend, thank you for the entertainment.

There you go again, trying to say single people are more holy than married people.

It is a pride problem you have. You keep trying to make yourself feel like you are better than those heathen, carnal people who committed matrimony.
