I'm indebted to "Blk Shp" aka Scott for inspiring this post.
Scott points out in one of his videos that the Tower of Babel was to be built from bricks, fired in a furnace. That makes them more durable and waterproof. (Genesis 11:3). That is fallen man's way. Satan controls the world system. He demands uniformity because it is so much easier to control people when they all think alike. You may have noticed that the great sin these days is to not be politically correct. Dictators such as Kim, Putin and Xi ruthlessly suppress dissent. Islam is a dictatorial religion that mandates killing anyone who turns away from Islam and those who reject Islam.
God's way is not the way of the world. God required altars to be built from stone or earth, not man made materials.
"Now if you make an altar of stones for Me, you must not build it with stones shaped by tools; for if you use a chisel on it, you will defile it." Exodus 20:25
In the New Covenant, God calls believers "living stones"
"........you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 2:5
We need to be careful not to adopt the world's way of thinking. (Romans 12:2) Being "politically correct" may appeal to the lost, but it will not get them into God's kingdom. Sin is sin, no matter what the law of the land may say.
Part of political correctness is not to be offensive. Christians need to remember that the gospel is offensive. Peter goes on to say that Lord Jesus is the “stone of stumbling and a rock of offence" to those who disbelieve.
We do not go out of our way to be offensive. We do not have to. The name of Jesus is enough!
