How to pray?

I recently had a prayer request for a young girl around 8 years old. She is in the hospital now and the doctors don't know exactly what is going on with her. She had to be put in a coma and they say there isn't anything else they can do.

I have been praying for her but I keep going into prayer with the same prayer it seems like.
My question is when we pray should we keep going to God asking for the same exact thing that we already ask for? After all He knows what has been asked. Is my repetitive asking of the same prayer considered unbelief to God? Should I ask once then just thank and praise God after I ask for His will?
How do you pray? Is there scriptures that I do not know about on this topic? I know that in the story of Lasarus being raised from the dead that Jesus Thanked the Father, went and told Lasarus to come forth.

What you are doing by praying over the same prayers is called, importunity or prevailing prayer. It is a very important type of prayer. Keep continuing to pray that way till you sense that God had heard you and then turn your prayers into praise that the answer is on its way.

There is nothing wrong with praying for the same kind of intervention repeatedly.. As long as you are using your own words, saying what You need to say..

Jesus once told a parable about prayer:

Luke 11
5;And He said to them, “Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’ 7 and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.

The think about prayer is that God knows all things, so He already knows, even before we pray for something for the first time, what we are going to pray about. I would say that as long as your are not mindlessly repeating a list of things to pray for (what the Bible calls "vain repetitions") you should keep on praying. Obviously if you do get any updates on the person or thing you are praying for, then your praying should reflect that.

I am just wondering why you posted this in "Heavenly Recipes."

I am new to this chat. I just hit the option to post a thread. Didn't know it was Heavenly recipes... 😂

I received a message yesterday and a pic of the girl sitting up in the bed Praise the Lord. God is Good. She still has a ways to go but she is doing a little better as of yesterday.

When I have a need for someone to pray for someone for the same prayer, like an illness or for salvation, I do keep praying. Just ask the Lord his will be done and that either way the situation goes, you will accept it and know that that is how it is supposed to be.
 
The best is holy spirit guided prayers, carefully listen to God, pray the item He want you to pray, then see how God is leading.

Practically speaking, if today someone something happens, you feel the urge to pray for it, just kneel down and pray to heavenly Father. See how God answer your prayer.

Some times the answer is no, or opposite of what you hope for. Then continue to pray and ask God, if still no, then that's the way God telling you to let go, better listen to God, He knows the best. HIS way is always higher.

A matured believer ask God's will be done, not mine.

Remember the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 8. It was her very persistence that provided an answer. Seek God's wisdom before you pray also. Holy Spirit will guide you.
