I again fully understand. Could you coordinate with some of your fellow pastors to circumvent the local ordinances? Are there ordinances against all night services for example, with six other churches cooperating, there could be an all night service every night as one example, and are not church services open to whomever wishes to attend?
Where does 'helping' our unhoused neighbors stop?

There are far more squatter laws than most people realize. If one examines property records far enough, they usually acknowledge that the land belonged to God before human governments claimed ownership (squatting), and then allowed other humans to claim portions of what was stolen from God.Speaking of squatters.

First, I am not a pastor... just a Christian trying to help as Jesus directed. But THANKS for the compliment!
When our church tried to host an 'all night prayer vigil' the city sent in inspectors to make sure there were no sleeping attendees, and we were warned that sleeping could not be permitted or citations would be issued, to the church and to the sleeping ATTENDEES. While the church had no problem with the $141. citation, that is a fortune to the unhoused neighbors. The city complained to the diocese and the diocese ordered us to cease. Sigh.......
We are supposed to feed and clothe people if we can and help them with their needs whatever it is.
Which charity, love in action, is greater than faith, and faith works by love.
But it did not say who to help but those that have need.
If there is too much trouble and danger should we help other people and leave those people alone.
For a person is a person.
But people are there so easy access to help and they want their area to be cleaned up.
But some people do not take too much initiative to help themselves and then burden others to help them.
Paul said if a person claiming Christ will not work then they are not worthy to eat.
And they should work quietly and eat their own bread.
For if people have the ability to work and the opportunity is there and they do not want to work then why should the saints be burdened to meet their needs.
What you are not going to work and want other people to take care of you.
But Paul was speaking of the saints that will not labor for the kingdom of God but it can apply to the world.
But in the street people have mental illness, depressed, and basically give up on life for some of them like a meth addict that does meth until they look terrible and have one dangling tooth in their mouth.
And families on the street make it harder to overcome.
So they need help.
What gets on my nerves about helping people is people who make good money like 200,000 dollars a year whooping it up having a good time and have no care for helping other people but it is only about themselves.
But if something happens and they do not have money coming in and going it to debt and financial difficulty depleting everything they want to cry help me, have mercy on me.
My attitude is well I guess you are going to be homeless and hungry.
For you cared nothing about anyone but yourself and then you want to cry help me.
I will help another person who has not been in that situation and needs help.
The world will take advantage of the saints to benefit them and if help all the time why should they try to help themselves among some people.
