There are some sects that claim they are still sinners and speak as though it's something to be celebrated

So much so that they will attack anybody that follows the instructions of the Lord to to cease from sin

1 Corinthians 15:34 - Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1 John 2:1 - My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not.

1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Galatians 5:16 - Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:24 - they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

It's a serious question, and is not mocking. Just trying to get clarification from the ones that advocate for being able to continue in sin and still be saved.

As a young person I drank a lot and was drunk frequently which is a sin according to God's Word.

The person I responded too makes it sound as though all we need to do is sin a little less and it's all good.

What if a mass murderer gets saved? If he murders fewer people than he did before he got saved is he still saved?

There are many Scriptures that can be mentioned, so please consider Rom. 7:14-21 to be one of them for me.
(I had it bracketed with Rom. 6:4 and Rom. 8:4 :^)

Here is where the concept of venial and mortal sin is helpful:

Paul listed some sins he implied genuine Christians would not typically commit (in 1Cor. 6:9-10), saying: “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived, neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” Apparently, such folks commit mortal sin and never truly loved the Lord (Matt. 7:20-21).

Although a new Christian might backslide and commit venial sins occasionally, it is inconceivable (because antithetical to NT/Christ's teaching) that a mature Christian would commit mortal sins so typically that the person could be classified as an adulterer, for example. Sinners can overcome selfishness only by becoming one with Christ via faith in Him/God as Lord and thereby sharing His goodness because of union with His/God’s Holy Spirit. This spiritual union is denoted by references to those who have saving faith as children of God the Father (Rom. 8:14-16). This is why Christianity is a relationship with God motivated by gratitude for God’s grace (Psa. 100, Eph. 2:4-8) rather than a legalistic religion of working to merit God’s mercy because of fear of punishment.

The evidence of saving faith or satisfying God's requirement for salvation (GRFS) is working faith, love or helping humanity (John 13:35). Disciples of Jesus (or Believers) tend to love and help others, not by virtue of their own goodness, but because they are moved or motivated by the loving Spirit of the Lord. Christians love everyone by reflecting God’s love (Matt. 5:44&48, 1Tim. 2:3-4, Rom. 5:5-8 & 1John 4:7-19). Humans can never become good enough to earn or merit salvation as a reward for right behavior. A person cannot be good by doing good. Those who try to attain heaven by imitating Christ-like behavior without accepting Christ’s Lordship and atonement do not merely fall short (Rom. 3:23) but actually go in the opposite direction (Gal. 5:4), so we should cooperate with God’s Way.

Someone who does not hunger and thirst after righteousness (Matt. 5:6) and LGW (Psa. 119:9) needs to reevaluate the sincerity of his/her profession of faith in the Lord. As Paul says (in 2Cor. 13:5), “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith.” The spiritual beauty of God’s truth is as awe-inspiring or attractive as the physical beauty of God’s world for one who has the Spirit/mind of Christ (1Cor. 2:12-16).

You should read the Bible itself and not depend on others unlearned opinions or personal preference Sophistry,as they label themselves Christian.

Seriously. Peoples opinion contrary to what God teaches is error. And does not feed your spirit.

Two faced people are unworthy guides. And there are many on the Net.

A Christian community is not where one should go to learn Scripture.
It is where they go,if they do choose, to share in the word.

The light of Christ is a threat to the fool and enemies in the darkness.They wear masks to fit in,but push the right button and the facade fails.

One of the biggest targets for atheists,satanists,and trolls,are religious forums.

Faith in and knowledge of God's words isn't arrived at by consensus.
Ours is a personal relationship with the Creator.
The facts of his doctrine are clear and simple. When he is within you,you realize this because it is the only way you can understand him.

This is why here,and on other community forums across the net,you'll see a broac range of falsity. And you'll see false understanding,because it is not described through his Spirit, attack those who are informed by the spirit.

False teachers,true believers. They're everywhere in Christian communities.

And that is as it should be. Because thats the way of the world Christians journey in.

Those who are unable to understand God's word,though they insist their error is correct. And those who live Gods word. Which the others will never understand.

That's why Jesus was devisive. Luke 14.
He brought truth to confront error. And those who worshipped error were threatened. Which is why they wanted him to shut up. To kill him.

Nothing has changed.
 
Paul writes this: Romans 6:12-14

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Paul is not suggesting that we will be successful 100% of the time but he expects his readers, and us, to set a course of action that can be described as "presenting ourselves to God as those alive from the dead. " We walk in a manner worthy of the Gospel. We present our members in service of righteousness. We walk in the Spirit.

"Do not judge by appearance, but judge righteously.”

“The wise in heart are called discerning” (Proverbs 16:21)

Those outside the church,the body of Christ,cannot judge us.

Then the preachers will tell them there's no need to repent because they'll claim all future sins have already been forgiven.

So the new Christians hears this and thinks it's all good and they can continue living in sin and still be saved.

Relax, I do go by what God's Word says.

I'm posting hypothetical to get people to thinking and it also reveals who is not following God's Word as in some claiming it's all good as long as we sin a little less than we did before getting born again

I hope not. I see more and more people advocating for walking in sin claiming there is no hope for Christians to break free from the bondage of sinful lifestyles. It would seem this is the peer pressure going around religious circles so churches can allow more people to attend which is needed to raise money to service their church's financial obligations since they all seem to be in a lot of debt to finance their little social clubs.

Romans 8:1 says those walking after the flesh are back under condemnation
We know that's true because a person walking after the flesh in sin has to turn their back on God to do that

Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. This is also verified in Romans 8:13
Romans 13:14 tells us to put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Colossians 3:10 tells us to put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created Him:

I mean we should be doing what the Lord is telling us to do in His Word, right?

It's mind boggling to me that some many these days either don't know what the Lord says in His Word or choose to ignore what He says. Instead they give people who quote God's Word a hard time.

This is showing we are in the end times when people no longer hear the sound doctrine of God's Word refusing His instruction and then they wonder why they are having such a hard time in life

Proverbs 1:25-31
But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

No one has said it is ok to turn away from the Lord. They are saying they recognize that they do.

The guy he's talking about in Romans 7 is not a Christian

He said he was sold under sin.

Did you keep reading over in to Romans 8 which give the answer to the problems the guy in Romans 7 is having?
