I posted a link in the thread on WW3, I feel this is related, clearly to that war as Israelis were targeted by a suicidal terrorist. (Post 1,955 in "US Joins WW3)
My sarcasm got the better of me. What happened is an Omani co-pilot attacked the pilot during a flight of mostly Israelis and tried to crash it to kill everyone.
There are some even here at CC who are likely disappointed that he failed.
It was stopped, so nothing to see, I suppose. It was a miraculous escape. I hope those with short memories and blinkers realise that Muslim terror can happen anywhere, anytime. And that the nice Muslim can be radicalised any time and become your worst enemy.
Nothing to see!?? We were told after 9/11 that doors to cockpits were going to be steel reenforced so that no one can bust into the cockpit while in flight. They stopped this crash by busting into the cockpit. It turns out that since 911 5% of airplanes have been fitted with the reenforced doors.
The big story here is not the attempt, it is how badly we have been lied to. Everyone has been taking off their shoes, not bringing water or toothpaste with them, but meanwhile so much for the reenforced steel doors.
I suspect that the door requirement was quietly dropped when authorities realised that the crew could be as much of a problem as the passengers. How did the pilot get a knife onto the aircraft?
