Such things can be scary, but the hospital staff knows that. You tell them how you feel, maybe one of them can sit down with you and have a chat.
Remember that God has given us a spirit that cries Abba! ... it is often translated father, but I think it means something more along the lines of "daddy", something a young child would say. We are to "crawl into his lap" and stay near him when we need him
