g'day..need to get this off my chest and have prayer

g'day y'all,
im a 23 aussie fella and have struggle with same sex attraction for most of my life. I know what the bible has to say about the matter, but even with that knowledge it is a hard thing to struggle with. If i am to struggle with it the rest of my life i am quite ok with that, so long as i continue to grow in a relationship with Christ. I just ask for prayer at this time in my life, that i would find the courage and strength to continue to press into God and seek Him, and that i would find peace in Him.

Josh I'll keep you in my prayers and hope that God sends you the strength to resist all temptations of the flesh and snares set by the enemy. I've found that reading the Bible and cultivating the fruits of the spirit found in Galatians chapter 5 can help us overcome temptation: Love, patience. self control, etc.

It helps when we shift the focus from ourselves and find ways to help and show God's love to others. Listening to their problems. feeding the hungry, volunteering to help people, visiting the elderly or sick, that kind of thing is worth making the time for.

I am praying for you bro. Keep seeking His face.

Standing with you in prayer bro. Peace and grace in Jesus Name, Amen. Everything coming up against my brother hindering revelation and love be bound in Jesus Name. He is right in God's eyes, God's Love expressed through Christ makes him perfect. God will complete the work that He has started in him. Jesus is praying for him and not condemning him. No evil shall befall him, no plague shall come near his dwelling. The Lord rebuke all that is intimidating him, the Holy Spirit contend with anything coming up against God's Love in my brothers life, in Jesus Name. Every word that has been spoken over my brothers life that does not agree with love, be broken in Jesus Name. I speak a greater Anointing for prayer and worship in his life in Jesus Name, Amen. The Lord rebuke Satan from his life in Jesus Name. Peace in Jesus Name. Peace and Grace increase and multiply in his life and right where he is at in Jesus Name. Peace be still to all the waves and winds in Jesus Name. Love, Joy, Peace, in Jesus Name. I ask Father for even greater wisdom and increased faith for my brother. Let him see Your Anointing heal people through him. Perfect Love in his heart and I speak healing to him in Jesus Name. He will live and declare the works of the Lord. The Lord covers him with His wings. I stand with my brother concerning all of his prayers, for him and his loved ones. Bring peace to any offense Lord. Peace to his relationships. Give him the right words to speak to bring peace in Jesus Name. Lift him up to a higher place. Anoint his words, overflow his heart with Your Love for others. Anoint him to move in Power and Love to turn this world upside down for Your Glory. I break any chains holding him back from moving forward in Christ and speak peace be still to any accusations in Jesus Name. Wash over him Holy Spirit. In Jesus Name, Amen Amen Amen Amen Amen.

I am so sorry to hear of your struggle. The reality is we all have "proclivities" for sins. Some are more devestating then others. Oftentimes, homosexuality is driven by early experiences and unhealthy family dynamics. A Bible believing christian counselor who deals specifically with homosexuality may be a great help to you. Unfortuanately there is no guarantee this will be lifted from you. Ravi Zacharias addresses this issue in this short talk, I would encourage you to watch it. I found Ravi's words to be right on in how he dealt with the subject of homosexuality

I know this may sound strange, but there are going to be those (in the name of Christ, with a scripture or two) who may eve encourage you to "try it out". I can tell you,the Bible clearly states sexual sin is something we 'take into ourselves", it WILL lead you further and further from God, no exceptions. This is painfully clear to any woman whose husband pursues mastubation or pornography- both also perversions of God's will and design.

The rampant homosexuality we are currently seeing is a direct result of humanities choice to revile God. Romans 1.18-32 describes a downward spiral as evidence of God's condemnation. The "Behavior" of homosexuality is declared a result of hating God. God made you in his image, male and female we were created. A woman is created to complement a man and vice versa. You will even see in most homosexual relationships one "acting the woman" and one "acting the man". The desire for God's design is inherant in humanity no matter what the sin. Race is sacred (created by God), sex is also sacred (designed by God), it is not our design but Gods. Sexual compulsion is always a sign of some other deeper issue. And the sin of another inflicted upon us, or our own sin chosen by us, can cause a perversion within too.

It sounds like you understand, being of homosexual disposition does not give you warrant to practice homosexuality (any more then a lust for food gives free reign to glutany). Many an overweight Christian there are, but it is not listed on the downward spiral listed by Paul. Perhaps because it is not specific evidence of hatred toward God (or perhaps it is when you consider the worship of food as idolitry). When you hear someone proudly proclaim to you "God want's you to be happy" I hope you will ask, "Book, chapter and verse". What, afterall IS happiness? Does it mean we get what we want or we are always who and what we want to be? God demands we are Holy and Righteous, but makes not promise to "happiness or self-gratification". Rather his promise is peace and joy no matter our circumstances. No magical "happy" scripture any more then there is a promise of wealth, niceness or good looks for every Christian. There are many an UN-nice Christian out there whom we all wish would be compelled by God toward that "virture".

I know it is a struggle and my note is not to condemn, just to let you know: others also face intense struggles and they must overcome them the same way....on their knees or their face before a very loving and forgiving God; knowing he is the one just judge. We cannot contine in our lives to overlook our sin and also expect his blessing. The way is narrow but so is the road.

Bottom line: God is not punishing you. We just cannot profess Christ while assailing His nature with impunity so it is important to be in prayer and talk to real Christians who will stand by you and support you rather then any who would encourage you to sin "in the name of love". God has a purpose for you and a direction.
