PuresongOkay, if you have to go early I can continue pasting my notes for the section we're currently on so you can see them if you want. What about weekends?
PuresongSounds good, I'm looking forward to it! Good night, Christian.
PuresongOkay, maybe we can figure it out more clearly when we both have more time.
C
christianriddleRight. I’m not timing the messages well. Sorry about that. Goodnight.
PuresongIt's alright, there's no need to apologize. Good night, and God bless.
C
christianriddleGood afternoon, Lauren! How are you today?
PuresongGood Afternoon, Christian! I've been a little tired, but I am well. How have you been?
C
christianriddleI’ve been alright. So, where are we in our study?
PuresongWe are at the fourth vision of Zechariah, which is Chapter 3.
C
christianriddleOkay, so for the first part, Zechariah saw Joshua standing towards the angel of the Lord and Satan on his right side. He was wearing tainted garments that clothed him, and the angel said that his immoral behavior has passed from thee, and that they will change his garments.
PuresongI agree, to offer a little historical background, the Joshua mentioned here was the High Priest at the time of the reconstruction of the Temple after the return from the exile in Babylon (Haggai 1:14), and Zechariah is contemporary to this event.
C
christianriddleOh, that’s good to know.
PuresongThe local fulfillment for the first part seems straight forward: God shows Zechariah that He is willing to approve of Joshua as His first High Priest of the Second Temple, as long as he follows His ways. But it seems like there’s more to it.
PuresongHopefully I'm not interrupting your train of thought.
C
christianriddleIn the second part, Zechariah says that Joshua should be crowned with a mitre, and they set a mitre on his head and replaced his garments with fair ones. Is the Lord of hosts another name for God?
C
christianriddleOh, it’s okay.
C
christianriddleYour summary of verse 7 seems coherent.
PuresongYes, I believe so, the Lord of Hosts is one of the many titles of God that is spread throughout multiple parts of the Bible. It is a title that reflects the military role of God as the commander of armies (which isn't only just limited to angelic armies). One of the most famous examples of this term being used is in Isaiah 6:3.
C
christianriddleOkay, thanks for clarifying that.
C
christianriddleWould you like to summarize the rest of the vision?
