CarriePieAn abundance, especially at country fish fries.
Jackson129Oklahoma sounds like tumble weeds in my head lol. Michigan is trees and lakes.
CarriePieA different T word is more appropriate: tornadoes.
I've actually never seen a tumbleweed in northern OK. I think it's too windy.
Jackson129We get little wimpy naders once in awhile had one 2 years ago. Direct hit. Power was out 5 days I think. We get alot of lake effect snow in the winter. This time of year we can be 60 one day 20 the next. Michigan is bi polar haha
CarriePieI can't say that I've experienced a tornado that's took the power out for 5 days.
Our temperatures here are like that. Big shifts can happen in one day.
I can't imagine what lake snow effect is like. Actually, except for one quick layover in Chicago one time, I haven't been north of Missouri. Lake snow effect sounds challenging to me 🤔
Jackson129Chichago dosent sound fun lol I only go to cities if it's life or death haha. I just don't see how people could enjoy that environment. Once you get sort of older peace and quit are just better.
CarriePieI certainly agree. I'd never had went to Chicago just to go there. A short layover was enough, but I did enjoy the scenic route over Lake Michigan that the pilot took.
Having grown up in the country, I've always valued peace and quiet. And I tend to be drawn more to critters than people.
Jackson129I hunt varmits for a farmer woodchucks are my nemesis lol. When a crit decides to eat your garden it's war haha. Raccoons are also enemy number 2 lol. Other than that the crits are safe. People are weird lol I keep my distance when I can.
CarriePieThe enemy of all my friends! My tiny friends (spiders) and my little friends (woodchucks) lol
Raccoons now, I'm finding them to be a nuisance. Since they arrived, I have less spiders, less crayfish, less other little critters, and no snakes.
Jackson129How can you be friends with a woodchuck lol they are the bane of existence lol. I actually shot 98 of them last year there is an over abundance of them round here. I got 148 raccoons. That's alot of varmits.
CarriePieI get excited when I see critters, including woodchucks. Maybe it was all that time I spent watching Grizzly Adams when I was growing up.
May I ask, have you eaten a woodchuck?
Jackson129I did once it wasent the worst thing but not the best thing. I hear there is some gland you have to cut out. I had a fox in my yard the other day and I've seen coyotes. I leave the little buggers alone. The only time I will shot a coyote is if they are brave enough to come right in my yard. I have cats so I don't want them to be snacks. The fox don't bug anything and they are cool. Maybe one day ill reach into a den
CarriePieI'd say the least appealing thing I ate out in the country was soft shell turtle.
I live on the edge of the country these days, but I see more wildlife here than when I lived in the country. I see a fox trotting by occasionally. I hear coyotes down by the river once in a while. I see owls at dusk. And I often hope I don't get sprayed by Pepé Le Pew some night.
Jackson129I usually run from swamp kitties when I see them. Gun or not lol. I don't eat turtle. If it's been living longer than me it can keep living haha. Bugs don't impress me lol
CarriePieWe probably wouldn't have eaten the soft shell turtle, but it got hooked on one of our trotlines. Poor critter would have died anyway. Bugs are incredibly impressive, only outdone by spiders.
