I think you are confusing the word public with out side. Jesus prayed outside all of the time. He just went off outside of the view of others to do it.

He prayed publicly just a hand full of times. in those time He prayed for the benefit of others. When He prayed/spent time with the Father He did so by going off even away from His disciples.

Apparently any where where the Spirit moves him to pray. I'm asking is it possible to pray publicly and not 'look holy?' When there is a mess of christians at a restaurant after church and they all 'bless the food.' How is this not an example of people not "looking holy?"
