Nah, I don't have to read scriptures. I have the gift of knowledge so the Holy Spirit just tells me everything I need to know. Sometimes it has to be interpreted by somebody with that specific gift but most of the time I'm good to go. You do believe in the gift of knowledge, don't you ? ;)

I have a thought . Why not just pray to speak in a language that everybody understands (like our own and/or the hearer's native tongue) ? Wouldn't that be more fruitful to all concerned ? Surely this would be pleasing to God, no ?

What Peter described as the fulfillment of Joel's prophecy at pentecost "is not the norm" ? Don't you think it should be ? What is "not the norm" is exactly what is happening today. Tongues are languages that are to be understood. Otherwise, what is their purpose ?

No Kelby, I've never spoken in a tongue other than my native language. Thing is, we're encouraged to seek after the greatest that God has to give us. This is where my focus remains.
