Yup, pretty sure that he could have been said in a more loving and caring manner.

Nothing against getting rid of superstitions, but it's all in how it is approached. Not my thing to hammer down on and crack jokes when another is in pain.

Little less Bible thumping and more love please. This person is obviously heartbroken and in pain and relating it the best way they can. Why not try a little love, compassion, and encouragement?

God knows your heart. By reading this, I can tell that you love God and he knows that. God loves you and he is there to pick you back up and encourage you. Not to discourage you.
