Is cessation an observation or theology?

In regards to the mirror in 1 Co 13 James 1:23-25 KJV For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: [24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. [25] But whoso looketh...

Is cessation an observation or theology?

Just to clarify, most cessationists would have only tongues, miracles and knowledge gifts ceasing...along with the office of the prophet and apostles.. but not all nine gifts ceasing. Particularly not the gifts of faith hope and love.

Is cessation an observation or theology?

God independently performing His power is different to God working through His believers with spiritual gifts. They aren't the same thing. So, God can raise someone from the dead, cast out demons, modify nature etc.. but the particular operation of doing things thru His believers like speaking...

How has science impacted your perspective on the Hebrew Bible?

An example of things that challenge the long ages: Animals that have to appear fully formed from the start, to function at all. Irreducible complexity. This affects the long ages, because like nature.. animals can appear to be fully formed..and nature itself appear aged, in very short...

Is cessation an observation or theology?

A point I've tried to make also many times that falls on deaf ears 👂 Cessationists don't say God doesn't do miracles, doesn't answer prayers.. but the particular gifts for certain times have fulfilled their job.

Repentance and Keeping Commandments is only the beginning of salvation.

Paul talks about being justification by faith without works. See Romans 5 and 10.. James talks about being justified by works. There is no contradiction, they are writing about different aspects of justification. Paul mainly about eternal life justification, not by works, by belief on Jesus...

Repentance and Keeping Commandments is only the beginning of salvation.

Different type of justification. That is a work acceptable in God's eyes. Not to do with receiving eternal life

Repentance and Keeping Commandments is only the beginning of salvation.

Romans 4:2-3 KJV - 2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. 3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. This is before he offered up his son Isaac

The Bible and the LGBTQ+ Pride Month of June

Every believer still has a sin nature. It has been forgiven when they believed, but the can still fall into old ways. They would usually not go into serious sin, like going back to being lgbt, because the Holy Spirit spurs them on to be faithful but it isn't guaranteed they won't. Yes, at...

    Doubting Salvation? What's Your Belief?

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you have eternal life. From the moment of that belief, you enter eternal life with Jesus. There is no loss of salvation. There is discipline and growth, but not a consequence of hell for the person who got saved. Many supposed loss of salvation verses are...

The Bible and the LGBTQ+ Pride Month of June

Context around this is fleeing sin as a believer. About Godly discipline for the believer. The designation of someone as a fornicator etc ...could mean they are unsaved..because they aren't identified as a believer who gets caught in that, but the context is of believers being admonished not...

The Bible and the LGBTQ+ Pride Month of June

Repent at salvation is a 'change of mind, heart'.... not a set of good works. Good works aren't part of eternal salvation. Jesus saves the sinner not by their merit. 'God be merciful to me, a sinner' as the centurion said.

The Bible and the LGBTQ+ Pride Month of June

Some one gets saved who was lgbtq .. they don't always immediately stop being like that. Alot do stop straight away..but if they don't.. doesn't mean they weren't converted. It takes time to break away from sins. Of course the Holy Spirit will lead them away from lgbtq once converted, but...

I agree that women shouldn't have the pastor position, just more thinking about folks who say that women shouldn't speak at all. Peace
