Commissioners of the Salvation Army live in ordinary homes and drive ordinary cars. Commissioners of the Salvation Army work in ordinary offices and fulfill their appointed task as Overseer. Salman Rushdie attacker to be sentenced

I am reminded of the old prayer "Lord, protect me from your followers". But in this case, sadly, they don't follow Jesus. IIRC in John's gospel the High Priest discusses the possibility of executing Lazarus, to protect the faithful... Oh. Rushdie is an Atheist, and public atheists are being...

I believe that in this forum that Mel Gibson is seen as: a sinner like the rest of us, with a faith in Christ like the rest of us, trying to share Christ's story to a new generation, like the rest of us. Before you cast another stone at him, please confirm to us that you have never sinned....

IMHO the shepherd is not 'over' the flock. The good shepherd leads the flock with his voice. And the good shepherd never lives in a palace, nor is a 'prince' of the Church.... Constantine sure did a job on us.... God, I miss Peter. God, please send us a shepherd like Peter the fisherman.

Correct me if I am wrong but the bible has a role "Overseer", but no role of Priest in the NT. And as I see it the role of Bishop has evolved out of the unbiblical role of Priest. If we are to be biblically correct, there are zero 'intermediaries' between the Believer and God.

Not ALL Churches. In the 1860s the Salvation Army needed preachers prepared to preach temperance in London's East End. They had almost no financial support, and the alcohol industry was paying alcoholics (the Skeleton Army") to physically attack temperance teachers. Several Salvationists were...

    The movie called, 'the passion'.

The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection (2025) - Trailer | Jim Caviezel I would describe this as a teaser as the footage seems to all be from the awesome and highly recommended mini-series "The Bible". The audio might be from the new movie?

Making a case for women in leadership

Why do you think God chose a woman for revelation first so many times? The Incarnation -> Mary, mother of Jesus Messiahship -> The Samaritan woman Resurrection -> Mary Magdelene

Making a case for women in leadership

Jesus obviously did not know "the rules". <sarcasm> How dare he first reveal His Messiahship to a Samaritan Women Sinner, and not say, one of his male Disciples?

I believe that Deborah was well rounded being a Prophet for religious matters and a Judge for civil matters. Deborah was also prepared to lead the Israelite army if necessary.
