Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

You are correct. The point of contention is CV5 putting forth the idea that the exodus took place due to Israel's volitional act of personal faith. No arm twisting by God took place. They just took it upon themselves to slathered blood on the doorpost. Give me a break!

The good news of Christ is that He has done it all! How many times must you be told to turn your Bible right-side-up when you study?

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Dream on! I suppose the people of Israel caused all the plagues. Of course they did! They turned the Nile to blood, they brought frogs, they brought gnats, they brought flies, they killed livestock, they brought boils, they brought hail, they brought locusts, they caused darkness, and yes...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Nothing that is necessary to salvation comes from within man, or can be done by man, therefore, nothing that is necessary to salvation is dependent on man, for he is WITHOUT HOPE, and does not seek the true God. Man can meet no condition, for he has no life. Man does not need to play his part...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Belief and Trust are both gifts given to God's people, not to mankind as a whole. They come to us through the renewal by the Holy Spirit and are not something to be found in fallen man.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

The insidious deception of Satan, and what lies at the core of every human being by nature, is the lie that grace empowers you to do what needs to be done to achieve salvation, rather than grace alone saving you. The works doctrine actually aggrandizes man, in that it teaches a man is saved by...

You might as well give up. You're like a weak link in a fence, you have little or nothing to offer. Perhaps it is due to the poor teaching that you have chosen to be under. Perhaps there is a good reformed church near where you live. It's never too late! Otherwise, good luck on rewriting...

Just a suggestion. . . Many of your posts are lengthy and are replying to 10 different things with your comments sandwiched in between. Therefore, I generally do not read them and I'm probably not the only one who skips them for that very reason. Just saying. . .

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Are you saying that God's plans often go sideways on Him, that He has lost control and needs the creature's cooperation in order to fulfill His plan? Your teachers are not quite up-to-snuff!

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

False gospels teach that if the individual does not do, then grace alone cannot save. In other words, God’s grace needs your works to secure salvation. The false gospels taught by lost people, and accepted by equally lost people teach that grace alone cannot save. Their savior is themselves...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Knowing and doing are two different things! The law is our schoolmaster! Where in scripture does it tell us that we are saved by our schoolmaster alone? We are unable to obey, that is exactly why we need a savior. . . .

    Romans 10:17, a courtroom haearing?

I believe that I was saved simply because at a point in my life the Spirit changed my heart and placed me into Christ. Why, I will never fully understand, but I assure you it was due to nothing good in me. Now I trust that Christ's righteousness belongs to me. Even though I do not fellowship...

    Nothing in my hand I bring. . . . Titus 3:3-6

We are accepted only because of Christ's righteousness, not our own. Our God demands perfection, He will accept nothing less than perfection from His chosen people. If that doesn't make us bow down in dust and ashes – then how could we possibly claim to be Christian? The sad fact is, that the...

    Nothing in my hand I bring. . . . Titus 3:3-6

Thanks for your comment. And I agree that any works that are done by us are not for salvation purposes, but are done out of love and thankfulness to God, who has provided for our needs [especially that of His son]. In James 2:26 we are told that faith without works is dead.

I would agree to some extent. However, we have nothing to give that we did not receive. 1 John 4:19 - We love Him because He first loved us.
