Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

We have all, each and every one of us, earned His wrath.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Today, as I was reading through Isaiah, I came across a passage which made me think about this particular discussion. In Isaiah 34:5 the following statement is made - For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens; behold, it descends for judgment upon Edom, upon the people I have devoted to...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I think that I finally see what you are saying. When we are told that if you trust/believe you will be saved, it is not an offer, but a statement of what must take place. Is this what you are saying?

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Blain, I think that you are stuck somewhere in the middle of being a FWer and being reformed. I'm not criticizing you, simply stating a fact. If the only way to God is through Christ, then we were either placed there or somehow achieved it by ourselves. One of the first things that scripture...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

God the Father has placed the elect into Christ to be kept in His care. They are drawn to Him by the Holy Spirit, and He provides us with His perfect righteousness. All our sins, [past, present and yes even future], have been placed on Him who has redeemed us. That is the only way that we...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Does this mean that everyone will believe? I don't think so! That belief/trust is provided by Christ Himself.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

I certainly agree with this! Christ is the only man who can provide salvation because He lived a sinless life and offered Himself as a sacrifice on our behalf. God demands perfection, and we can only obtain that perfection by being in Christonly Christ can give us that perfection.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Wrong again! We have put our trust in Christ alone, not ourself. Our trust is in what Christ has done, not what we have done.

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

This would make a good topic in and of itself, because the message is there for all to hear, [if it were only possible]. But, man is so corrupt that he will not turn from his ways. He takes pleasure in earthly things, and must be given a new heart to hear/trust/believe. These are the fruits...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

He is not obligated to save anyone. If you have a problem with that, take it up with Him. . . . .

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Another problem of yours is thinking more highly of yourself then you should!

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

Just as I said, you take verses and mutilate them simply because they hurt your ears. That just means that you think that you should be God instead. . . . It is very true that the offer of salvation goes to all. But, it is also true that it is provided for His people only. Get over it!

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

God decided long ago all those who belong to Him. It is only His chosen who are drawn to Christ. It is true that He takes no pleasure in the lost, but it is also true that He only has mercy on those of His choosing. For He tells us in Rom 9:15 that His mercy is for His people only. That's a...

Can We Really Exercise Free Will?

The problem with Fwers is that they claim we never use scripture. Then when we do, it hurts their ears to the point that they twist it in every direction possible to pretend that it does not mean what it says. Good post!

Should the church preach the gospel?

There are lost people everywhere, just look around yourself. Should they be denied access to a church? They may come once and never return, but we cannot see into their heart - only God can do that!

Should the church preach the gospel?

Strongly disagree. Gathering has worked for years, even Matt 18:20 calls us to gather. Teaching is important but so is fellowship with like-minded people.

Let me know when you have finished reading and understanding [Part 1 of 3] and I will post Part 2. By Grace Alone Part 1 1. Eph. 2:8,9 - "For BY GRACE are ye SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast." 2. Rom. 4:6,7...

Should the church preach the gospel?

I once told "Dallasman" that the last good thing to come out of Dallas was Tom Landry. It went right over his head. He never considered that it included him as well!

Should the church preach the gospel?

The local church must continue to bring God's word to the public, whether they be Christian or not! The sad fact is that all people need to hear the word of God. We are very forgetful, and in need of constant reminding. . . . Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than...
