A married couple recently started a contest where the winner had to recite the 10 commandments in 20 seconds or less. They stated that thousands of Christians profess to having knowledge of the Bible but out of the large group of people they asked, noone knew the commandments. The contest was started because the couple wanted people to realize that the 10 are still in the Bible and Christians should know what they are.

i missed the sabath & honouring my father & mother & no graven images... these I know but had mental block. Thanks for the test. Jesus commanded us to Love the Lord our God with all our hearts and all our minds and all our soul & to love our neighbours as ourselves... On these two commandments is all of the law. (not exact wording but this is how i remember it) This is found in matthew 22. Thanks again :)

Hmmm, interesting yes I agree we should know what they are and observe them, and live our lives by them. But I truly believe the problems of the world today stem from Christians who prance around claiming to have knowledge of God and the bible... and rely so heavily upon it.

Wake up people! There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between head knowledge and heart knowledge. You can go to church 5 times a week, know the bible (including the 10 Commandments) inside-out and back-to-front, you can choose only to associate with other Christians, and only to listen to Christian Music, or watch Christian television. That doesn't necassarily mean you are in a right relationship with God!

Romans 10:8 -15

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”[a](that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”[b] 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”[c]
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“ How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,[d]
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”[e]

Clearly, we are called to have a personal relationship with Him. If we truly know Him, in our hearts, then we are called to serve (v15). These scriptures are pretty clear that we need to believe in our hearts, what we confess with our mouths!

So my challenge to you all is... instead of spending all of your time on here questiontiong your fellow believers' knowledge of the bible, or claiming everything you come across to be evil and corrupt;why don't you examine your heart knowledge, and then take this wonderful gift we know of redemption and salvation out to those who need it most: a crying and hurting world?

Food for thought.

Blessings x
