I ask because setting up one world government requires a whole lot of preparation. For example, you can't have paper currency if you want to control what everyone buys or sells, you would need to develop a cryptocurrency that could be centrally controlled for every person on earth. That is not simply a job for computers but you would need an artifiial intelligence and Quantum computers. You would also need a global network, it would have to be satellites. Also hunting down those who do not take the mark would require tens of thousands of drones, also controlled by AI. We would see all this technology being developed and tested before the one world government would be able to be installed.
Yes I agree and all those points you make are here, or almost here now. Cryptocurrency, Quantum Computers, global network, AI and drones are here, so there needs to be some World event to happen for the AC to take control of that one world Government, and I believe it will be the Rapture of the Church (the Body/Bride of Christ) to be the World event. We believers will not be on Earth during that horrible time.
Well the Lord wouldn't return without giving us a few signs first. After all what is the point of having signs in the heavens if you don't use them, or dreams like Pharaoh had of seven good years and seven bad years if you don't use those? Or a harbinger of coming judgement like that with the tower of Siloam?
So then it could have happened before they had Starlink, before they had RFID, before they had AI, or drones or computers? What was Jesus telling us to watch for if there are no signs? Why is Matthew 24 so long? Jesus could have simply said "it can happen at any time, there are no signs to watch for".

OK, we are keeping watch for the Lord's glorious appearing because we don't know what day the Lord will come. So then, what are we watching for?

Sounds to me if you see the glorious appearing it is too late. We are supposed to wake up beforehand otherwise His coming is like a thief. We are watching, like a night watchman.

The perfect illustration is the story of the 10 virgins. They woke up when they heard the shout that the Bridegroom is coming but they weren't ready for His coming, and by the time they were, they were locked out of the wedding.

The keeping watch there was that you are ready. For example, I have heard some teach that the ten bridesmaids refer to Christians, or the church or something like that. It is ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing anywhere in the New Testament saying the church or the Christians are "bridesmaids" at the wedding. The church is the bride, not the bridesmaids. That is how clueless some are, they have no idea what these ten bridesmaids are that usher in the bride to the wedding of the Lord.
