America grieves again a natural disaster that hits on a whole different level as dozens of children have been killed or are still unaccounted for.

The most predominant question is typically why.

Why did this occur?
Why did God allow it?

Jesus was once asked why a tower fell on 18 people killing them instantly. The individual asking the question thought it may have been due to sin. But Jesus said,

Luke 13:4-5
New International Version
4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

1. He tells them that all are guilty of sin.
2. That natural causes do occur.
3. The most important matter we must all ask ourselves. When, not if, but when we die, are we prepared for eternity?

The girls of Mystic Falls summer camp have caught much of the media's attention due to the great loss of children.

The video below records the girls being evacuated on a bus while singing hymns of hope and praise to God.

Songs like Pass It On or Lord Prepare Me To Be A Sanctuary

The message they chose to share with the world was that no matter in grief they found hope in God and desired to spread the love of God to the world.

The answer to why may simply be, the answer to why this doesn't feel right when young children die before their parents.

It doesn't feel right because inherently and instinctively we know that death in general is wrong. We were created for the eternal but sin and evil brought about the fall of mankind and the world still reels in the unseen damage that sin and evil produce.

Jesus told His disciples very plainly that most of them would die. Why would He allow that?

Because Jesus knew the tactics of the world better than anyone (He was literally crucified) and still He chose to leave us as part of the world but reminded us we are not of the world.

We are here in part to first know God and second to make Him known. We are to pass on the good news of salvation and to be a living sanctuary for the Holy Spirit to work in us. Our citizenship is in Heaven as we are only ambassadors here on Earth to share the news of our King.

The world will kill, destroy, and take away all things good until sin and evil are completely judged.

God is patient and must work within the fall and the free will choices of mankind to still bring about His will in saving the sinner and establishing a new Earth where He will reign in the new Jerusalem.

It is hard to comprehend the grief that these girls and their families are going through especially those who did not survive but we are reminded by the children, some of them sisters or friends of the deceased, that in God we have hope in the resurrection. Hope in our Heavenly eternal home with the Lord. And while we who are still here. Can you answer two things?

1. Have you accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior? If your life was demanded of you at 4 A.M. tonight are you 100% confident in knowing where you are going?
2. If already a Christian, what are you doing with the time that you have left?
