A Plan to Use Money Wisely

Wealthy people struggle to pay their bills because they do not use their money wisely. Whether you make a little or a lot, you can stretch your income with a budget. Put away your credit cards and use a budget. The envelope budget is taught in many churches, but you do not have to attend a class to understand it.

Read the simple steps below:

1. Decide how much money you will need to pay your normal bills. Add up your utilities, rent, etc. When you get paid, deposit this amount. Receive the remainder of your paycheck in cash.
2. On empty envelopes, write your other expenses like "Groceries," "Clothes," "Fun." Distribute the cash in these envelopes.
3. When you run out of cash in the envelopes, use your self-control and patience to wait on your next paycheck instead of charging purchases on your credit card.
4. If you have cash leftover in the envelopes, use it to make extra payments to lower debts or deposit it in a savings account.

Using a budget offers many opportunities to receive God's providence in miraculous ways. It also illustrates your determination to act as a good steward with your money.

Dear Father, You are the giver of all good things. We thank You for our incomes and the many ways in which You provide for us. We pray You would help us to plan and adhere to our budgets and that You would reveal Your deep love for us in unique ways. In Christ's Name, Amen.

How I do like this post!! I worked in the payroll department of a large corporation for years. When there was a layoff, the people making the least wages didn't call us about it, but the people who were highly paid called often, and we heard how hard it was for them. They had huge homes, large boats, expensive cars to keep up, they were ruined.

Years ago I heard a sermon about it. Ministers so often have people come to them with the hurt of being ruined financially, it must be hard for all ministers. This sermon told how God told us to use what He supplies us with. We are to owe no man, so if we don't have the money for it we are not to buy it. To buy something large without looking at the resale value is not the way to buy. If we have to have a mortgage do it cautiously and carefully, resist the flashy house. Never use credit cards, do without. Thank the Lord for all things you have, always be aware God is the creator of all we have.
