2Timothy
(2:2) And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.*
(2:3) Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.*
(2:4) No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.*
(2:5) And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.*
(2:6) The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.*
(2:7) Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Why do I do this everyday? How can I not? My desire to serve Christ to the best of my ability demands it. I would not know how to serve if I did not learn what the duties of being a servant of Christ are. The duties are written down for us. We need to study and learn them. They are not just duties they are principles for our lives. They are not just things to be practiced, they are to be cherished and shared.*
This was a hard thing for me to put into practice. I have always been a sort of rebel. Always looking for the easy way out. The reality of a faithful life in Christ is however not nessesarily the easiest way. We are confronted daily with the trials and temptations of the world. Our human desire for more, more, MORE! In doing this we get caught up in all the things that go on in this world. Trying to improve our standing wether it be in our jobs or in our social circle. As we do this we are distracted from what should be the priority in our lives. As we get even busier with responsibility of our greater standing we find we can't even find the time to read and learn about Christ. Much less find the time to study to be able to teach others.*
As I have grown in my understanding of what I have been called to do for God. I have become content in my position in life. I will probably never own my own business. The time that it would take to run it would be to demanding. I am happy at just being a laborer. It allows me to spend the time that I feel is nessesary to to serve God properly. I love serving God. I find I'm happiest when I'm doing the work he has given me.*
This daily activity is a part of those duties. I don't know how to describe the feeling it gives me. I just know thathe more I have done it the more I want to do it. I have reached a point that I'm disappointed when my other responsibilities make me have to stop and take care of them.*
The time I spend in study and meditation is relaxing to me. I can feel the holy spirits presense. The comfort of this feeling makes me want to just stay here and continue. But I know I must do more. This time of personal growth, study, meditation and prayer. Is just part of the whole. The whole being the life Christ wants me to live for him.
So I will struggle on in the world to provide the means to live while I am here. I will do this because it is part of my calling right now. I will get the strength to make it through each day from this time I spend learning and gaining understanding. In doing this I am not just serving, I am fulfilling Gods desire that I have a full and satisfying life. * * *
