"But the thing David had done displeased the Lord." I always remember that one sentence in 2 Samuel. To me, it sounds so ominous and kind of scary.
But Joseph's physical lineage may have come through David's son Nathan if church tradition is right. His Lavrite lineage, if the tradition is correct, was through Solomon and Zerubabel. The tradition is recorded in Eusebius' Ecclesiastical history, maybe attributed to Africanus, though I'm not sure about that last bit.
