Are we willing to follow God even though we do not understand or we do not agree with it? John6:66 says that many turned away from following Christ, the scribes and pharisees did not follow Jesus because he did not teach what they wanted so the kingdom was taken from them Matthew 21:43. A trying time will come to us to try us Revelation 3:10 Jesus said in Matthew 16:26 "What shall a man give in exchange for his soul".

That is why Jesus spoke to setting ones self aside to follow Him.
The gift is in doing this, :) as giving up ones own self, brings all that is the faith, hope and love in Jesus!
We cannot do this on ones own, but in Jesus, all is done!
