As I was driving to work today along the never ending motorway, I was pondering on the subject of forgiveness. I'm not going to lie, whenever someone has hurt me before, I forgave them, but I never forgot what they did. This in itself lead me to slight bitterness and judgemental views towards them. I didn't know I was doing this, it only became apparent when I really began to critisise myself. Who am I to judge, what makes me any better than the next, surely I have hurt people in the past regardless of it being unintentionally or not. So I've learned to forgive...and forget.
A few minutes after that, I began comtemplating about something else, wherever God shows any signs that he is with us if we choose to seek it. So I asked...Father, show me a sign with conviction that you are real. For some strange reason I was given the name Matthew in my thoughts. Then the number 6 and 13,14 which I then gathered was a scripture reference. Interesting, I thought to myself.
Finally parked, I shut the car door behind me, then immediately took my phone out to check the scripture reference.
Matthew 6:13-14
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’
14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
I was in total bewilderment. Lost for words but yet full of joy. Of all the signs he chooses, it is one about my inner thoughts that only occurred half and hour ago. It gave me the reassurance that he is with me and listens to every thought of mine. It also gave me peace at mind that the Bible really is heavenly sent and I continue to read it with more joy than ever. Crazy huh, or just a wild coincidence. You decide. The majority of people will ignore this which is understandable, but for those that don't and want to search for God. Just ask! But ask with your heart. If you open your eyes you will find.
